Riding in my area is always a crapshoot. Between inattentive drivers, deer, and whatever else I sometimes wonder why I even ride. But languishing on the couch is equally as dangerous in different ways. That said I occasionally have picked up a bad vibe and stayed home. But sometimes I’ll ride despite a bad vibe to stave off developing a superstition. Weird, yes.
A few years ago, 10 minutes into a ride at night, I pulled away from a traffic light at a brisk pace, as I was in front of the line. I then saw silhouettes of three deer run in front of me. Far enough to avoid them, but I went directly home after...
I’m in that fun club of riders who have hit deer and I was much more..... pliable...25 years ago.sigpic

I went to town to get a few things and after getting home and unloading everything I thought "I don't feel like getting all the gear on to go". I learned a long time ago that if you aren't feeling it don't go. The few times I ignored this feeling I had a couple of near misses that convinced me to cut the ride short. How about you?
Tried to find the fault but found nothing wrong and finally drove the car to work.
When I came home I took apart everything, checked all circuits, fuses, switches, etc. Nothing wrong anywhere. Put it all back together and it started immediately.
Next time was about a month later. Same problem...no electrics. Again I checked main items and saw nothing wrong. Again I took the car to work, came home and thoroughly checked all electricals....again...nothing wrong. Put it back together and it started.
A couple of years later the same thing happened with the GK: total electrical failure.
OK...lesson learned from the G, so I did nothing else and just drove the car to work. When I came home that night I opened the garage, put the key into the GK ignition, turned it. Everything was live It started immediatelyBertrand Russell: 'Men are born ignorant, not stupid. They are made stupid by education.'

I've hit 3 deer with trucks, over the yrs., 1 hit me on bike. One night a deer "ran into me" on my Kawasaki ZRX, Saw her way ahead of time, slowed to 2nd gear and easing along, she wheeled around and rammed her head right between the radiator and the front wheel... Years past we had NO deer, today they're the biggest traffic hazard we have in our rural area1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw.
