    Sold my FJR

So, I sold my Big Yamaha. I put a add up in the FJR forum. I didn't get much interest except for this one fellow in Arizona.
We chatted about the motorcycle but I figured that was it only chit-chat.

A few days went by, so I decided to lower the price a bit. Next thing I know, the Arizona fellow called me saying he's on his way to buy my motorcycle!

What? Are you sure you want to drive 2,050 miles to buy my motorcycle? Two and a half days later he was in my driveway.

He did get a good deal as I threw in all my FJR stuff...

I did feel bad as I watched it leaving. We certainly had some good times together. But hey,, it gets to live in Arizona. And time for me to turn the page...

    Nice!

I know he got an extremely clean and well-cared-for bike.

I know they're not kittens, but it really does make things easier when you know a bike is going to a good home.

Sooo.... what's next? You've got "vintage" and "naked" covered, so what's the next "sport tourer"?

I remember when we got to cheer on your purchase of that Z900. Let us know when we can do a little more living vicariously with your next ride.

WTF??????? I thought you were looking at a bmw. I can't think of a single bike that a hardly could compare to but then again, it's your choice and I hope you just love it to death.

It will be fun riding behind you and picking up the pieces as they fall off.

        Just messing with you Norm.

              Ooooooookaaaaaayyyyy.... now there's a curveball!

Apparently Norm is trying to collect all the possible motorcycling experiences.

I've actually spent a few thousand miles touring on a rented Harley (business trip/publicity stunt sort of thing). Aside from the gawdawful lack of cornering clearance and power, it was a comfy and surprisingly pleasant platform for the trip. The big "secret" of touring Harleys is that they're just plain puppy-dog friendly to ride. Super-low CG, light, easy handling, and serene on the highway. Engine vibration completely disappears above idle (I did not expect that) and even the controls are big, chunky, thunky, and rather satisfying; sort of a different kind of satisfying than the light, precise controls on a well set up "ferrin" bike. And they've generally been quite reliable since the '90s.

Not my cup of tea at all (I prefer spicier, more "frantic" flavors, I guess), but hey, I get it.

And we're gonna need pics. Yep. Get to work on that, Norm. We're waiting.

20221027_154839~2.jpg I was able to bring the new motorcycle home today! A 2022 BMW K1600GT.
I considered the R1200RT, lovely motorcycle, but I'm a horsepower junkie!

This one has all the bells and whistles. Quick Shift, power locks, courtesy lighting, 160 horsepower, electronic suspension... Did I mention 160 horsepower? Also a 266 page owners manual. I definitely have some reading to do.

I half considered the Gold Wing. But the side cases and trunk can not be removed. Also the horsepower thing and the lack of it. And the.... .

Yep,, I'm all ready for winter... But next summer is going to be epic!
