    Winter Storm Elliot

It was in the upper 40's and lightly raining when I left work this afternoon, the massive cold front arrived about 5 this evening. It is now 9 degrees and snowing with 25-35 mph winds. Not supposed to get above freezing again until Sunday. How are the rest of you doing?

So far, so good, down south here. Decent 45º day, but tomorrow night, suppose to be single digits.

We pay for it in the summer, but even with a cold snap, it's been above freezing most mornings, with a high of 65 today. Stay warm, friends.

I had -14 this morning, got all the way up to -8 for the high. Also had winds in the 35-40 mph range. At least the mosquitoes are no longer biting.

Got up this morn and temp was at 0.. weather man said coldest we've been since 1996. I remember back in 1985 it got to -14, coldest I ever remember around here. They're calling for 11 today, 16 tomorrow, 21 Sunday and 34 Mon., not warm but finally above freezing. Very light snow, just enough to make everything mostly a dirty white, nothing a tall like what I'd call a white Christmas.

I woke up at 3am and it was 43ºF, then at 8am it was 3º. Twenty below with windchill.

            I closed my windows.

Closing them seems like a good idea

Weather is so variable across regions that it can be amazing.

With you in Virginia from up here we might expect you to be considerably warmer than us, as we are at least a few hundred yards north of you, but comparatively speaking, we are much warmer.

We had rain during the night and the temperature at 9 AM was about 38F. (and humidity was 99%)
Present temp is 18F but will continue dropping to near zero F later tonight.
Right now it feels bitterly cold with winds of 30mph. blowing still-wet snow hard at you.

It made it up to -1 here this afternoon, after an overnight low of -7. Currently sitting at -3 with a wind chill of -22. On the bright side, we only got an inch of snow!
