Anyone notice this guy almost never posts on the subject under discussion ? Just drops in to criticize other members .....

This guy, who has posted twice in this thread, neglected to mention that the pattern of lack of tolerance and respect for other members opinions sadly extends to a habit deflection of present topic, obstinate denial of responsibility, and an incomprehensible unawareness of the corrosive effect of their postings. Day after day.

One of the dozer boats { those little ones } would take a deckhand out to each end of the barge. Each deckhand would open a valve to start the flooding procedure . In the old days we might stay on it during the dump and then close the valves once it was over ..... But if it fast dumps it is dangerous . One time one fast dumped and was airborne . When it came down on the side it had enough force to snap one of the cranes off the deck ..... Transport Kanada is pretty safety conscious in modern times and would never allow it in today's times .....

That's not a job I would even attempt. It's out of my realm. Kudos to the guys that can do that kind of work.

I remember back in the '70's they stopped shutting off forest fires, as it was claimed that "nature" kept the forests in check. That got reversed, and the forests grew thick. Then is was stated that because the forests weren't thinned, (don't know the proper term) this caused fires to spread, as the natural breaks from lightning caused fire were not in place and allowed the forests to burn over a greater area. Some people say "Earth" acts like it itself is an organism. I have no answers. A lot of rain is needed now. The smoke is supposed to be heading back to New England. I have Asthma, and it hit me hard. Couldn't get anything done, and definitely couldn't ride.

They taught us that in 7th grade, and that was a heluva long time ago. Nothing in that article I disagree with. The problem is greed, politics, and fire. It won't be solved on this forum.

I've been on this forum over 20 years and as best I can fremember, nothing has ever been solved on this forum. LOL

Not true, the forum definitely helped diagnose and fix the charging system on my bike.

And, judging from the number of posts one other thread has generated since it started, surely we’re close to figuring out when ICE vehicle manufacturing will come to an end.

Watching the news this morning they were interviewing a couple of climate scientists. Their prediction was that this was going to be the worst fire year in British Columbia's history. Then went on to say that we could consider this the new " norm " ...... Not encouraging ......

Right now we're going into an El Nino condition that usually only happens in the winter. Considering that we've just went through a very anomalous three La Nina's in a row it would be ludicrous to deduce that the weather we're seeing now will continue for any predictable length of time.

Climate models seem to agree that with a warmer planet desertification expands both northward and southward. As far as BC is from any other area considered "dry" it's doubtful that you'll become like southern California but the prediction for lengthy dry spells is probably spot on.

I posted this in another thread, but thought it would fit into this one well.

I am no engineer, but wouldn't you get the same result by simply putting L brackets on your fan and slide a filter or two up against the draw side of fan? Or maybe no brackets at all, use the force of the fan to hold filter in place. When the filter gets to heavy to hold, it's time to replace.

I've got enough air conditioning in my place to keep it as cool as a Las Vegas casino. The filters in them keep the air nice and clean..... However we still haven't had any smoke in Vancouver { yet } ....This is highly unusual as the prevailing wind " should " funnel it down the Fraser Valley to us . If I was still working and not retired I would be following weather patterns but I'm not so I haven't and have no idea why we aren't getting hit ......
