I'll NEVER understand the desire to go 100 mph on a cheaply made vehicle with chinese welds that were not designed for this type of use. Get a real motorcycle for krighst sake!

And I own one of these "walmart" mini-bilkes and have done some really cool mods (ie 6.5HP Predator engine from Harbor Freight) to it -- and it will, but I have no desire to go faster than 20 mph or so. I don't get it.

During that interview that was conducted at the track, they asked why not just get a cheep street bike and be done with it. Certainly cheaper, faster, more reliable. I often tell people that when they want to speed up their GS. Just get a 10 year old bike and be done with it. lol

Looks like they ended up with 1.8 million views on that last video and judging from the comments, seems many people enjoyed the segment. Pick any topic and it's not going to be popular with everyone. Having a bit of an addiction to speed myself and having modified my own bikes for a fix, I found it entertaining. Similar to the 50cc bikes at the salt flats.

I've met a few people who like to do things that many don't understand.

one friend, years ago he started playing guitar ,he got decent at it but found he liked fixing and setting them up.

He got good at it, and started setting them up for people.

But he found he really likes buying cheap guitars or damaged guitars and fixing them.

I was with him and he bought a old thin cheap guitar at a garage sale for ten bucks.

he put new electronics in it, few other things, probably spent couple hundred dollars on it????

He does it a lot ?

I definitely found it entertaining - maybe even moreso because I'd never do it. I'm willing to take some risk for fun, but the risk needs to be commensurate with the fun. Like watching a a guy do a handstand on the edge of a cliff, no desire to participate but I'll watch you do it.

We all have our own ideas to what we consider fun. One of my hobbies is riding and modifying bikes. My old GS will go from a dead stop to over 140MPH in 660 feet. It's slow compared to heavy hitters but still has some risks. To your OP, I do have friends who will never understand why and that's fine. Now my wife was a bit concerned when I started to twist the chassis, but nothing 11lbs of molly couldn't solve.

That last video has been up for 9 hours, has 633,000 views and 63,000 likes. Sure, the 20 hits from this forum will make a big difference.

By comparison, this channel has 12 subs. This video has been up 13 years, has 22 likes and 7,800 views. It's just a simple frame swap which required you know how to use a few tools. Personally, I would rather watch these guys get these low cost mini-bikes. I get others may have no interest but I don't understand their whining about it.

LOL....That's my video. Still have that bike.

I dig the sweet jazz music and the Miata. Zoom Zoom. And the bike is pretty sweet as well.

You're old GS can hit 140 mph in an 1/8 mile?
                  Like wow....
I drag raced bikes for years, and that is pretty rare and impressive.
                  I'd like to see pics.....

Here is the old GS I had, but it would only hit 140+mph in the 1/4 mile, (1320 feet)

There was an article about the Walmart minibike that tried to explain a possible reason why. I think your comment about the fun factor is dead on.
You can buy performance two ways: Pay up front for a bike that's already fast, or get a bunch of parts and build one. Can this minibike morph into a monster?

I will take a guess that "old GS" has not much left of anything GS on it Sounds like a complete performance rebuild. For a fact, no stock GS of any model ran 140 in 660 feet. Still, I want to see a pic of this bike to believe it.

Earl, I could care less if you believe in my statements or not but as I wrote the old old timer, go back a page if you want to see it. It's not like I haven't posted about my builds here over the years.

If you can't figure out how to find it on your own, here's a picture of two of them. OldGSbikes.jpg

I figured is was just old age Earl. You didn't think a stock GS would run 140 to the 1/8th did you? Unlike Baatfam's with it's off board starter nut, mine is push button start. No weight savings in the drive chain. I'm guessing I have a few pounds on him as well. Guessing maybe 200HP is all. About what my street bike has.
