Picked up a ZRX1100 on the cheap

I happened to glance at CL and picked up a 1999 ZRX for $1240. It’s been in storage for a while but I couldn’t beat the price. Pics to follow when I get it home today.

Anxiously waiting for more info... I like my ZRX more than any bike I've ever had. It's nearing the time I should get rid of all my bikes but 1. When the time actually gets here, The ZRX will sure be the 1 that stays. Only thing neg. I can think of about the ZRX is no center stand, though kind'f minor it really aggravates me.... Congrats, if it's not complete junk, it's got to be a great deal.

eli, your 850 weighs more than a ZRX plus the newer technology makes the ZRX feel waaaay lighter. The only thing that could be too much bike would be when you twist the throttle. 78 HP shaft dr.. vs 98 HP. chain. Still way less than the modern superbikes...2022 Suzuki Hayabusa 197 HP, now that may be too much bike for several of us..

My '82 11E makes 99.3 at the rear wheel, and it's only slightly modified.

My ZZR1200 puts out 145 H.P. at the rear wheel. I'm thinking of sending the carbs out, where a guy in California modifies them for $300 bucks, that and a timing advance brings the bike into the 200 mph range. Supposedly it will do 179 to 186 stock, depends on altitude, and air density. You cannot just blip the throttle in a turn on these bikes, the back end can and will break lose on you The bike feels comfortable at any speed. That's kind of a problem, as I have found myself doing 120 mph on roads with no traffic and not realizing it. The police are in aircraft, and they will video you and catch you, so you really have to be careful, or you start accumulating points on your license. My bike only has 3875 miles on it. I picked it up last year for $2200 bucks. I've been modifying it. It should be completely ready to go in a couple of weeks. What a deal.

Hope he's not expecting anything like a ZZR 1200, totally different bikes. For me the ZZR is a high performance crotch rocket bike, the ZRX is a sit up straight all purpose bike with a sporty paint job... Apples to oranges.

It's 96 H.P. at the rear wheel, not at the engine. They are pretty fast bikes, in top condition you should get around 145 mph out of it. You had better make sure everything is right where it needs to be before you try and do something like that on any bike.

Okay, guys, I figured out which way is up. I've been confusing the Kaw ZRX with the ZZR. Two totally different bikes. The ZZR was cutting edge, fastest production bike in it's day (fully faired), and the ZRX was a throwback, called a naked, made to look as much as possible like the old Kaw 900.

Have I finally got it right?

Cloudbreak, we must see many pics of your new bike from all angles. It's not an Eddie Lawson replica, by any chance, is it?
