I think it's time to limit the Vortex to site contributors

Looking at the slim end of year balance, and poking thru the Vortex, I can't help but notice the negative correlation.

Very few posters in the Vortex are site contributors, but most of the day to day posts on the site are in the Vortex.

So, the contributors are supporting the endless posting of non contributors.l

I do like the Vortex, don't post there much, but the imbalance is striking.

    What say you?

BTW, I just contributed for 2024
    1978 GS 1000 (since new)
1979 GS 1000 (The Fridge, superbike replica project)
    1978 GS 1000 (parts)
    1981 GS 850 (anyone want a project?)
    1981 GPZ 550 (backroad screamer)
    1970 450 Mk IIID (THUMP!)
    2007 DRz 400S
    1999 ATK 490ES
    1994 DR 350SES

I suspect the majority of data out will be to casual readers who ain't even members. I don't know if the hosting cost per month includes data up to a certain limit, probably does. Then there's all the crawlers and bots...

A nickel each for 30,000 posts over several decades is only $1500. That would be a bargain for those who require human punching bags.

If by contributors you mean money, I'd be out as I have no way of paying. If you'd consider contributions in the way of assistance and advice in the tech side I'd stay.

It is noticeable that several trolling names in the vortex never post anything bike related.

And for those like me who don't post much in the Vortex the entertainment value would be, as it's said, .......priceless. Money sent, thanks for the reminder.

Cheques have been abolished here. I now work on eftpos for nearly everything. Don't run a credit card either - poor pensioner now.
Quite happy to keep providing tech knowledge and advice.

No. If there is something I need - as lately parts for an AJS Stormer motoX engine - the shop I was once a partner in gets them in for me.
Current owner is a nice guy who I helped when he started racing. Looks after me well.
Anything non motorcycle is vanishingly rare and i usually get my daughter to sort that.

Banks here are working toward abolishing cash. Want everything online. I'm old enough I doubt I'll have to deal with that.

The downfall of most forums are Facebook & Reddit... Both are poor substitutes but all the cool kids are using them.

Forums need to work better on mobile devices to catch up....
