My guess is that on average, 10% of the site bandwidth is consumed by members and the other 90% is by visitor traffic, probably searching out info for their bike projects. At this moment, there are 16 members and 861 guests online. That's almost a 54:1 guest to member ratio in bandwidth usage. Members account for 2%.Last edited by earlfor; 01-04-2024, 10:12 PM.Komorebi-The light filtering through the trees.
I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself than be crowded on a velvet cushion. H.D.T.

Earl, I'd wager heavily that at least 99% of those "guests" are bots.
Nessism, I'll also agree that the other GS-ish online communities are... well, a mess.
It's also been quite noticeable around here for many years, even predating the assorted blowups and nonsense that led to the creation of the "Vortex", that many of the most prolific GSR Vortex dung disturbers don't own motorcycles and never did. Most never appear in the technical areas. Why they showed up here, of all places, and decided this was the place to fling poo at the walls, I'll never understand.
As to the topic of this thread, that honestly might not be a bad idea. We'd have to be clear that if you are the kind of persistent yahoo that gets yourself banned, we're keeping your dough.Last edited by bwringer; 01-04-2024, 11:30 PM.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

Many members given access to The Vortex have been participating in GSR platforms since the mid 90s or so.
The reasoning behind this section of the GSR is stated in the sticky at the top of the section. Paying to participate wasn’t a qualifier. Members earned their way into this section. No shake down required. If it’s a mess, a cleaning may be in order

Shoot, I enjoy reading everybody's opinions, whether I agree or disagree with them. It kind'f gives us a hint about the kind of person the poster is, way more than how much they chip in. Cambridge English Dictionary, Vortex, def. 2. A dangerous or bad situation in which you become more and more involved and from which you cannot escape... I can't escape, click on it every time I visit The GSR.... Pep Pat, you're right, way too many rules and regulations already.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw.
