    Women are not men.....

    A really odd news item, in my opinion, as I would not have expected it to have happened at all.


    Even on a military base, women can still be real women, and real women can breastfeed their children. .

    I was amazed when I saw this article on today's news, and immediately wondered how can anyone be so far behind in 2024

    Women have been allowed to breastfeed in public for a very long time.

    I do not know if Nova Scotia is the same in this regard, but in Ontario, women can quite legally breastfeed in public AND they can quite legally walk around bare-breasted on public streets...just like men..

    Don't do that in the U.S. You will at best receive a citation and a fine and at worst go to jail.

    Military bases are run according to the code of military justice, not the law of the country. Civil law officers, RCMP for example, have no jurisdiction on military bases unless by agreement by military authorities.

        Military bases are somewhat like an Embassy. The are sovereign.

          Again, thank you.

          t may very well be different in USA, but up here the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms supersedes everything else, although when it comes to jurisdiction in criminal matters involving the lands of indigenous groups, outside police forces must defer to them in many areas.

          An aside: I have to thank you for that. It brought back an almost ancient memory of a moment when a law firm cited sovereignty in a court case filed by Canada Immigration against my then-employer.

          He and his staff spent many hours creating a 100 page book of defence based on sovereignty and it all collapsed when I showed him that it was not allowed.
          He told me there was nothing more embarrassing than a client arguing with him on a point of law.....and the client being right.

          We did not either win or lose the case,. however, as it was indefinitely stayed by the judge.

            It sounds like the situation was resolved rather painlessly .... They admitted they pucked up, apologized, and promised to change policy .....Sounds like a good ending to me .....

              As said initially, I was surprised that it happened at all, but now I hope it will change things for the better across Canada.

                    Yup...after finally cancelling my 25 year marriage to a woman who chose being drunk over everything else, I deeply wanted to start over, and I did.
