Epic car and bike show day in November, Nortons and cars and even Jay Leno

A couple of weeks ago went to Hansen Dam for the annual Norton bike show. Here's a picture of my son and me in front of my bike. There were lots of Brit and other bikes, Vincents, Velos, and even a turbo CB750 done up very chrome-like.

Then I went to nearby Van Nuys for the Best of France and Italy on a windy day. All the cars were covered in dust. I got to see some great old cars. I tend to focus on Lancia, Fiat (nice maroon Dino Coupe there, a little known and relatively affordable classic ..drool), and Alfa. The show used to be 'under 3 liters' but has changed to include the big bucks stuff. Many cool French cars too. Saw a Maserati Ghibli and 2 Lamborghini Espadas (in pic behind Jay) —just amazing. Here are a couple of pics. Leno fell down a hill and bashed his face a week or so after this show. He's gotta be more careful. Falling down is not good when in your 70s.

Leno's 1915 Hispano Suiza started up with a bang and a puff. Amazing. 18L Hispano Suiza aircraft V8 (read up on it here Wikipedia for some cool engineering history) was a sight to see and hear.

    Jay being Jay.

The Fiat Dino - one of 3 models Ferrari/Fiat made with the 2.0 then 2.4 liter DOHC V6.

One of the most beautiful cars ever IMO

That's a pretty cool red Norton you're standing near. Did it get much respect there?
1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

As they say in Australia, yeah...no. I got at least one vote though, plus my ballot stuffing. Most ogling was over the Vincents. There were several including the one with period panniers and top case (which is used for a lot of touring to this day), and a BSA A10 that the moderator of the Access Norton forum brought on a whim. That's the non-unit construction precursor to the BSA Lightning/Thunderbolt/Hornet etc range. He took Best of Show and Best 60's Brit with that Beezer (dang!). The Triumph flat track styling exercise was well done. Rather than the usual purpose-built track frame used the original oil-in-frame, errr frame, nicely nickel-plated. There was so much eye candy, tons of Nortons especially, as it was a Norton Owner's Club event.
