By the way, I will not be available Saturday am to do a tally. And I have reason to think that neither will Bob baatfam.
So if anybody else is available, don’t be waiting for me to do it.

ill vote for Jedz...great shot and creative.
Yes, it is tricky trying to figure out what an audience will like. I get fooled all the time.
Something I've taken, something I believe is perfect, a picture I love, and yet no one feels quite the same way.

I believe it comes down to "the story" you are trying to tell.
Often I love a picture because I was there, and know the story.
Looking at it, makes me feel what I felt when I took it.
But is the photo telling the story as I remember it, or telling a story at all?

I often don't do a good job of telling the story, and viewers don't feel what I felt, if they feel anything at all.
So I try to look at my photos critically, forgetting what I remember, and look at what the photo is really saying.
Sometimes, it doesn't say anything at all, it just looks good.

What story is your photo telling?

Generous offer, thanks. I’ve got to get my wife riding with me more and get me to stop being such lone wolf. She’s ridden with me on my bike a grand total of one time. Seemed to enjoy it, at least not hate it. When we were in HS, before she and I started dating, her previous boyfriend dumped her off the back of a dirt bike. She’s not been a big fan, ever since. We’ve been together 30 years now. Trouble is I don’t have any friends close by that ride.

You have any kind of a backrest on the bike? There are some that only come up about 6" or so above the back of the seat. Not that much to detract visually, but instills a LOT of confidence that she won't be going off the back (again).

Yeah. Got that. I’d imagine it’s about as comfortable and supportive as it gets for this type of bike. She’s not uncomfortable on it, it’s just not her thing. Maybe it will never be. I’ll keep trying.

                              Agreed with Bob.
Many times I have posted pictures in this very thread and elsewhere in internet land that I thought were wonderful only to get a cool, if any, response, and at times I've thrown a spitball at the wall, it sticks, and is well recieved. It occasionally causes me to question my work, but I consider a successful image as one that I enjoy looking at time and time again. Kind of like good music.

Contest format just throws in more variables and sometimes pits image quality against subject matter, but its all in good fun as far as this thread is concerned.

My entry this week was a perfect example- I absolutely love it - the moon, its glint shining off of the leading edge of the windscreen, the transparency thru the screen showing its curve and shape, the muted ambient lighting, and reflections on the water, etc, etc, etc. It did, however, stray from, or minimally include the subject at hand. Ironically, I used it this week fully anticipating that it wouldn't get a lot of love. I'm cool with that and in my mind its still one of my favorites. It was during that session that I realized that my new camera has great potential to allow me to capure some goodness....

Photography is art. Art is subjective.

I've quite enjoyed Scott's Random Photo thread for easy watching and posting.

                                Exactly....
It is one of the main reasons I am very, very impressed by anyone who makes a living as a photographer, or any kind of artist, for that matter.

I've quite enjoyed Scott's Random Photo thread for easy watching and posting.
Yes, so have I. Very fun!

Now where is Jedz with the theme?
