This week how about your bike with an interesting or really old church.

This one is 258 years old.

I was just thinking about a church / bike picture theme.

I passed this church a few years ago and got a kick out of the name. Moonshine United Zion Church. When I got home from my ride that day I was checking the church out online and I learned that it is associated with the Blue Eyed Six, a group of men who conspired to murder a neighbor for an insurance payoff. The year was 1879 and the murder victim was buried in the Moonshine Church cemetery. "Moonshine" was apparently a local family name.
Having learned all that, I played around with photoshop and added a blue-eyed silhouette to the window.

Incidentally, this is the 1100GL I bought from ddaniels around 2010

Oh yay, I can participate this week. Have a pic on hand or I may take a ride - that is if my currently major back pain eases, I replace my broken signal, and find time. In other words expect a stock photo...

Outside of Oldenburg In (actual address is of Batesville) is this old church called St Mary of the Rock Rectory. The church (first picture) has a stone in the front dated 1906 but all information I could find even online states it was first founded in 1844 (second sign since I couldn't get it all in one shot)

The former (Epispocal ) St Marks church, which is now in the hands of a historical "Preservation" non-profit, of which I serve on the Board of Directors. The interior is made of beautiful clear Douglas Fir and designed and built by a former Shipwright many years ago.

I'll see if this picture posts. It's my first time playing. I'm still not sure of the best way to post pictures from my iPad. Choosing one photo from my camera roll results in a small picture. Linking a photo from google photos using a pc seems to work well, but when I try to do thee same thing (sitting my butt on the couch) with the iPad, all I'm seeing is a small empty square. If it doesn't show up I'll edit it on the desktop.

This is Grace Lutheran Church in State College, PA. Bummer is that the best views of the exterior of this very unique church can't be shot with a bike in the image.

                            Found it.
Old Tennent Church. Near Monmouth Battlefield, and used as a field hospital at the time of the Revolutionary War. Its first pastor is buried under the building.
Built in 1751, the congregation dates back to 1692 where there was another church building (no longer standing, cemetery is intact) a nearby location.

Nothing too unique about this church, is a small town Reformed Church. ANd I dont know of what age. (but is picture that I have).

Is on on a somewhat nearby and somewhat interesting road, that I often ride if I have a couple hours.
Have stopped under their awning (other side) on a couple of occasion when raining. (should have thought to get pic of that).

Took this pic almost 10 years ago. On that day, the bucket of white flowers caught my attention, stopped and got some for wife. Also noticed all the white of the building and the fence, and the blue sky, so took the picture.

Looking at the picture today, I am thinking how I would now pose the picture differently (to minimize the parking lot, and try to get all of steeple).
