Can see GK down there. (this is the entry).

      and "down there" is here

Trestle is 420 ft x 35ft high. built in 1900. Hamilton Mich.

Being the exciting knowlodgable fellow that I am , I can say why it is that many rail road bridges have a second set of rails.
If you were to ask, you would then know I am really a boring ol' man.

I assume that it's something to do with stability but there are also different sizes of track?

THe outter tracks are the normal guage the train runs on. The additional tracks on the inside are not really tracks, but are more like guard rails for if the train were to "derail" off the rail, the wheels will then be riding on the ground and ties, but the extra rail is to keep the train from going any further away, that is, to keep the train from going closer to the edge or from going over the edge.

I could show you more pictures of other bridges/trestles/hillsides that also have the addition rail(s). And I could tell you how I had been puzzled by these. ANd I could tell you about how and when I found the answer . . . . . but that would be too much like a "boring ol' man".

Oh, a little surprised, no fox, possum, horse, nor cow tracks, seems we may be a little light on country folks. Voting Baatfam this week, just cause of the excitement he's brought to this weeks game.

Roger Burque's pic is one that gets me to say "tracks" real quick when describing it.

I railly did enjoy many of the pics.

Bob baatfam at drag strip race track got my attention... and can see his attention too.

Norm Storm looks like got on the track, and stopped to pose a pic, but on second look is close to the track.

Rich's pic the tracks are front and prominent, can say it really ties everything together.

One guage I use is if it appears that the subject/theme was what the photographer was trying to feature at the time, so....... Burque.... Rich....

Ill vote for Rich82GS, the pic really spiked my interest in that can see tracks and such all the way from edge to edge.

                                .
