Canada does seem to generally be an exception.
How did this become an accepted part of speech?1978 GS 1000 (since new)

I see it constantly at OSS and on the FB groups

Yeah, it drives me nuts when those here continually refer to the CDI on their GS. No GS was ever manufactured with a CDI.Komorebi-The light filtering through the trees.
I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself than be crowded on a velvet cushion. H.D.T.

i don't think you can point the finger at any one market over the others. I've seen TCI ignition miscalled CDI in US magazines - and Haynes manuals (British)
CDI was new, hot and cool - at the same time, lol. No- one could work out what TCI stood for
You can imagine the Fonze saying "Yeah, my bikes got CDI man" But not, I think, saying it has TCI.
