Umbrellas!
I'm watching "MotoAmerica Race Day Supersport-Road Atlanta 2021-Race 2" from May 2nd. SDK vs. Escalante. Very exciting. It's on "MAV TV," channel 810 on my set.

Did the umbrellas look something like this? If so, yes, they're quite loud. It's no wonder you couldn't hear the rider speak.

I wonder what the interview process is like for this job:

I'm as guilty as anyone for noticing a gorgeous woman. I do know, however, that we need to back off of objectifying them and let the sexes coexist without any echoes of male dominance."Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."

I'm watching MotoAmerica Race Day: Superbikes. The pretty girls with long hair and umbrellas - they work on the fueling or tune the suspension?
Or do they just charge your battery?1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

The moto show in Chicago in February is usually sponsored by Progressive insurance. They always have quite a few people there, most of them probably temp workers, to hand out goodie bags and the like, all dressed pretty normally -- blue corporate polo shirts and jeans or business casual pants.
Anyway, I didn't even notice at first, but many of the women style their hair something like Progressive's mascot "Flo", complete with the headbands, and the ones wearing makeup use Flo's signature bright red shade of lipstick, and maybe her eye styling. Blue "Chucks" sneakers and several other cues are part of the costume, too, and these popped up.
I'm not a particular fan of Progressive, but I thought it was a brilliant, fun bit of branding, with no objectification or sexualization. And it appeared to be optional and voluntary; some women didn't bother, but most added a little "Flo" to their look that day. Once I clued in, it was kinda neat to see a variety of "Flos".
The current Flo costume or uniform is interesting in how it's been deliberately de-sexualized -- baggy white pants and white polo shirt, silly sneakers, and an apron to obscure the body even further. And the commercials often contain men and other women in the same basic outfit.
Anyway, back to the umbrella girls, yeah, it's pretty sexist when you think about it. Even if it is a nice gig for aspiring models, it's something that will begin to fade as societies change.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.
