1981 gs1000 "s" ???
Just looking at the model info. here at this site, I saw there was a 1981 GS1000 "S" listed. Wasn't the "82" GS1000 "SZ" the first of the Katana & the 1980 GS1000 "E" the last of the chain drive 8V GS1000's. I can't remember or picture a "81" GS1000 "S"1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. ZL600 Eliminator, 1999 Bandit 1200S, 2005 Bandit 1200S, 2000 Kaw. ZRX 1100Tags: None

I think those were "79" & "80" only, I've never remember an "81" Cooley...Oh probably other parts of the world had them. Thanks, I just didn't think of that.Last edited by rphillips; 10-21-2021, 05:12 PM.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. They sold the last of the 1980 ET's in Australia in 1981, they had a different paint job and were fitted with standard instruments and 17" rear wheels IIRC.
Not sure when the last production run finished if it was late 1980 or early 1981.

In "79" we had a GS1000SN (an 8 V Cooley), in "80" we had a GS1000ST (an 8 V Cooley), & in "82" we had a GS1000SZ (a 16 V Katana). Wondering if there was a "81" GS1000SX, as shown in the model info. & if there was, was it a later Cooley or an early Katana. I'm 99% sure we didn't have them in the U.S.,1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. ZL600 Eliminator, 1999 Bandit 1200S, 2005 Bandit 1200S, 2000 Kaw. ZRX 1100
