The AAA auto club in the US is the authorized issuer of international drivers license. This prevents problems if you are stopped by the police. You are required by law to have liability insurance for anything you drive in Texas. Many the large cities in the US have a "bad side" where crime, and personal danger are too high. You should research that for Huston, and several of the cities between Houston and Galveston. If you stay clear of those Texas and the rest of the US are great places.
In Galveston there is a lot of ship traffic, that keeps the water stirred up. That and the fact that a large river dumps into Galveston bay. The further south you go in Texas the lighter the sand will be and the water becomes clearer. Far South Texas is almost tropical.1981 GS1100E
