My uncle had that same bike. He put 85k miles on before he pased. Only problem he ever had was a failed ignition coil.
Congratulations and enjoy. I like the color. My uncles was black. Yours looks much nicer.sigpic

I'm 99% sure that it's basically the same motor, just detuned for the more cruiser-style bike. Cams with less overlap/lift, maybe smaller carbs.
I really liked that first generation of Hinckley Triumphs. Test rode a Trident back in '97 and was very impressed with it. I'd ridden the GS1000S up to the dealer (Atlas in Tulsa, for any oldtimers in that area) and was surprised that it was noticeably faster than the GS. Seriously considered buying it, but ended up on a Ducati 900SS instead.
The original Speed Triple from that era was a gorgeous bike also.'20 Ducati Multistrada 1260S, '93 Ducati 750SS, '01 SV650S, '07 DL650, '01 DR-Z400S, '80 GS1000S, '85 RZ350

I do still love the second gen speed triple. I actually considering buying one new way back, but happened upon an 1150e to replace failing 1100e. A choice of a couple thousand for a nearly mint 1150e vs a payment book. The Suzuki won and to this day is still the nicest bike I've owned.sigpic

I could see one next to the Sportster, but in truth, I want a dual-sport and although the Triumph might outperform the Harley, the Harley would get ridden far more.
Kerry, you got yourself a super cool bike!"Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."
