    Rust In Peace

Working out and about in the rural country area over last ten fifteen years I've seen a lot of car that to some people might be worth doing something with.

But the owners never want to part with. The reason are many.
Most say they letting the cars rust in peace , more or less.

Now, the more I notice them I understand?

We don't see much of that in my neck of the woods. I certainly have heard the stories of some what could be valuable pieces just rotting away.

Like you said, so many reasons people do what they do....and if it is theirs......it's all good!

I enjoy the hunt and then tend to pass things on after enjoying my catch for a bit........a hobby of sorts.

I see them all around here, some turn them into yard art.

Life is a balancing act, enjoy every day, "later" will come sooner than you think. Denying yourself joy now betting you will have health and money to enjoy life later is a bad bet.

Some just leave them where they stopped running

Some get swallowed by the woods.

Cool thread, though melancholy in ways.

Having grown up in Arizona, I've seen lots of them in various states of incompleteness. They rust there very slowly, and each one provides the setting of a story that is fun to fill in yourself.
              Sorry, no pictures.

Sad to see that 67 Camaro. I held onto my 66 ElCamino for about 15 years after it was in an accident hoping its day would come. Eventually reality caught up and I parted it out. Last I heard the guy that bought the roller had had it up and running and bodywork completed.

I was somewhere in the desert southwest in 1998 and stopped for gas at a small station with a small junkyard out back. In the yard was a 67 ElCamino with half the bed cutoff. Being from Jersey, I was flabbergasted to see the original paint on the frame and fully intact rubber body mounts.

I took this pic last winter. Most of the rubble has been removed and or continued its slow trip to the earth. The roof of the truck is gone, rusted away. http://Chevrolet 4100. by Glen Brenner, on Flickr

And a bump.... these and a boatload of other great photos are in the random photo thread.

For years I drove by a El Camino that had a tree sprout up in the middle of the bed...about five years ago someone must have bought it ? Camino not there anymore. Also see a 65 ? convertible mustang with samplings growing up through the car
