    The Oxy Kingpins

    "The Oxy Kingpins" is a CBC documentary about those who make and distribute death in the form of opiods.

    I do not know if it is available to viewers outside Canada, but It is well worth watching.

        Darn. The link states that it's not available outside of Canada.

        Anyone here watch the HBO show Succession? I imagine the Sackler's being like the family in the show.

          As far as I'm concerned, nobody forced the consumers to open their mouth and shove pills down it. Of course, the lawyers go after the deep pockets, to line their own.

            If you have a VPN it may allow you to set your country as Canada, and then the link should work.

              That is difficult to argue, however for the initial batches of "victims" many, perhaps most, knew not what they were getting into as their doctors may or may not have known about the likelihood of addiction, so they just gave the prescriptions for a new painkiller and their patients took the pills quite innocently.

              and went back for repeats.......again and again.

              After that initial period doctors learned the truth, and many continued shilling for the pharmaceutical companies. They got their fees and their "patients" got their drug supplies.
              It was just a business transaction...

                  Fast-forward to today (in the USA) and doctors working in large medical institutions like Kaiser won't prescribe pain pills beyond ibuprofen or acetaminophen. They are scared $hitless. Even private doctors are under intense scrutiny, questioned by insurers.

                  People that suffer from pain are screwed because of abuses of the past. Asking for any narcotic pain meds flags you as an abuser straight away. I say this from personal experience. It sucks.

                        What a bunch of BS! I just had hip surgery and went home with as much Tramadol as I wanted.
