I had a frustrating time at the gixxer.com, oil cooled gixxers. Short attention span membership. One angry troll wrote I shouldn't even be a member because I owned a Katana.
At the Honda Hurricane site, all the posts were ancient and I only got a response from one other man who was also rebuilding a bike. We shared some ideas.
At the Katriders.com there was decent activity 10 years ago and I got very good advice there, but now active membership is down to 17. I just logged on and looks like I'm the only genuine member plus 85 guests this morning.

Life moves on.
I got banned for the first time there...no need to go into explanation but I posted something I wasn't supposed to in the non-member area.
I paid the 1 time life membership fee so I can visit the Club Red R area.
There are tons of moderators there too...like by region or something.
It's a fun site once the culture is figured out. Like I said, I gained lots of experience from forum interactions and that site was my initial introduction.
The activity level here is much higher of course...we really like our GS'!

It may not be the most important point, but it is accurate.
It is a quarter of a century since I first joined the bulletin board that it was then. Many people have come and gone in that time.
Some of it has passed by, but much remains today. In the early years it often seemed more like an extended family, with lots of spats but a strong togetherness of family spirit and an open willingness to help others without reserve.
Each of us has stories involving relationships that developed.
I have seen my own family get almost royal treatment from others who went far out of their way to help.
Your comment reminds me also of a woman member who openly and specifically asked the forum for help of a very personal nature.
I really cannot say why I responded to such a personal thing, but I did, and it became the warmest thing I have done.
That is because I got very close to her and close to playing the role of Cupid in restoring her faith in men and moving her love life in the direction she wanted most, which happened to be with another forum member.
It took some time, but it went together as she so deeply wanted and stayed that way for years, enduring until he passed away.
Thanks for the reminder.Last edited by argonsagas; 12-18-2021, 11:59 AM.Bertrand Russell: 'Men are born ignorant, not stupid. They are made stupid by education.'

Wow! This forum has been around since way before I even had internet access. LOL. I logged in to AOL for the first time in 2002. Didn't even occur to me there'd be folks talking about GS's online until a friend mentioned it just before I joined in 2016. I came here, like most folks I suspect, with a poor old neglected bike I picked up for a few hundred bucks. It just needed some love and there's plenty here.
I've enjoyed meeting a handfull of members here in New Mexico and maybe 20 others at the rally in Bedford.
Sure am thankful for all the folks who keep this forum running.

I bought my first BULKY desktop (HP) just before leaving RAF Mildenhall in 1992. I hardly used that computer because I was not confident with computer skills. (sidebar) I voted for Perot that year and thought I wasted my vote. lol
Lots has changed...and to think, these guys who formed GSR were persistent in their view to bring together a community of Suzuki GS enthusiasts!

In its early years GSR was sponsored and that paid costs.
When I joined in 1998 the sponsor had its name on the site. It began with a "C", but for the moment I cannot recall the name of the RR company that was a main sponsor.
I do recall buying an RR from them for my 1100G, as did many of us.Bertrand Russell: 'Men are born ignorant, not stupid. They are made stupid by education.'
