Game Day 2022 - Super Sunday

Having my coffee & a slice of cinnamon cake this Super Sunday Morning.

I just set up the DVR to record today's Final Game of the NFL season.

I should probably delete the other games as I've watched them so much my family kept asking, "is that a live game?"

Plus, I need to make sure there is enough storage space to record the 6-10:45pm schedule block time. The commercials should be fun to watch.

So, what are you guys planning on doing to keep yourself busy until game time?

We're expecting snowfall around 10am...current weather conditions: Cloudy/35F and feels like 28F.

Ed, I'm worried about you. Are you going to be okay tomorrow, next weekend... after NFL Football? What is your plan after Football? It seems like you have full family support to support you after Football. Don't look at your truck for support. It already has you wrapped around its finger. Your new Television? It's not necessary to cover it and store it away till next football season, share it with the family.🤔

I'm just being silly. Ed, I'm glad you're excited about the game. It makes it fun for all.👍

My plans for the big game. The little bar up the road from me is having a party. Nothing big, but a few folks will bring in food. I'll probably stay till halftime then watch the end at home.

Accomplishments

I'm doing lots of evaluating at this point in my life. I'll be 56 (Lord willing) in June...I remember that my connection to the game is "I'm as old as the SB".

Trust me, the family loves the new TV in the front room. All enjoy the smart technology to watch Netflix, Youtube, Hulu and Prime. But let's face it, it's better to have family discussions than sit around the boob tube all the time.

As for my truck...my wife already gives me a hard time about the toys I've never been able to afford...but can do now.

She was upset when I bought the Gixxer after I retired from the USAF at age 44 (I'll give her that...not the best first bike to learn to ride).

Then after I sold it and the new owner crashed it and didn't survive the accident, I found the 82/GS750T which brought me to this site. That was almost 10 years ago.

So the Tacoma came after we refinanced our home...it's always smart NOT to have weighted debt when applying for a mortgage.

It will be 1 year this May that I've had the 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport and the new LG Nano TV is just over a month old.

Did I mention we just finished a total kitchen remodel to include removing all the contractor grade carpet that's been in this house since it was built in 1999? We have wood floors in every room including the kitchen and stairway leading to the bonus room.

I'll be OK with not watching sports...I did it when stationed overseas in Europe. Plus, we plan on getting rid of cable/xFinity after the SB.

When you think of a classic Super Bowl matchup, you think of two teams that have dominated their competition and run rampant through the playoffs. Rams vs. Bengals is not that matchup.

Both teams trailed in their respective conference championship games as the fourth quarter started. The Bengals needed a dramatic comeback and a spectacular self-destruction from the Chiefs to advance. The Rams blew a 24-point lead in the divisional round against the Bucs and needed Jaquiski Tartt to drop a gift-wrapped interception to spur their win over the 49ers.

That being said possibly, hopefully they will be of near equal performance to make an interesting enjoyable game to wind down the yr...ED, you've got that Taco Sport to keep you busy till next. Sept. So many upgrades available...it never ends. I hate extended cab trucks, but love the "Tacos" & especially the "Sport" models, So much. So I have a 2013 reg. cab Taco 4X4 with Sport hood, sport suspension, sport 17" wheels, badges & of course Sport stickers. If you see a "Taco Sport" running around with a reg. cab, it's probably me.

Exactly why I've been saying neither is near a SB quality team. That being said possibly, hopefully they will be of near equal performance to make an interesting enjoyable game to wind down the yr.

These days, it's not as frequent as yester-years to see Championship teams consistently play high caliber games and then end it with a WIN on Super Sunday. As a matter of fact, I don't think that has ever happened.

We speak of it as the expectation and it becomes the exception/norm (yes Norm, I've mentioned your name).

You rarely see players stay their whole career with one team...and that has changed the game.

When my teams would lose, it really affected me in my younger years. Now, I just don't let it affect me like it use to.

Prior to owning a New Truck, I had the 2003 Honda Pilot EX with leather & DVD purchased in Hawaii. Our daughters were both in grade school at the time so the focus was utilizing the functionality of an SUV in place of the 1996 Honda Accord LX.

Our family went from Hawaii (1999-03) to Germany (2003-06) with follow-on to Dover DE (2006-08) then finally my last assignment to (2008-11) Aviano Italy with my 365 to Iraq (2007-08) so that I could get the follow-on to Aviano.

Our kids gradated from HS in 2008 & 2012 but I was still having fun driving our Pilot. Then one day (Oct 3), I had an accident and my Pilot was totaled. My transitional vehicle was a 2010 Mazda CX-9 obtained within 30 days/Oct 2018.

I was aching for a new vehicle before our Refi/Cash Out in March 2021 but waited until we were finalized in April 2021. By May, I took delivery of my baby!

Yes, lots of upgrades for my/our Taco and I am gradually getting there. But this is about today's Big Game!

I recall hearing, about a few weeks ago, that some company was going to pay for a minute during the Super Bowl to be kept blank, no audio, no video, just to allow people to use the facilities without missing anything.

I don't remember any details, it's possible that I heard it on a Johnny Carson rerun from ages ago. Anyone have a similar hallucination?
