It appears Putin's war is having an effect on prices at the pumps .... This is Portland Oregon ...... First time I've seen US gas cost more than ours ......

It would impact the world market to a limited degree, but the U S does not get a significant amount of oil from Russia, so I don't know why loss of soviet oil would change U S prices for mid $3 to $6 per gallon.

Ukraine is on the expressway to total destruction with genocide. It looks to me that NATO is not much move than a paper tiger. The world watches and NATO plays phone tag.

the oil thing is profiteering and predictable
they will of course say its world oil prices dictating the rise like they always do but as usual the gas in the pump was processed before the war started.

one good side effect is it keeps unnecessary trips curbed.
Id hate to be a sorry commuter these days. I wonder how many are working from home still.

local govs all up the tax food chain will benefit from this and claim the budget surplus was a result of astute planning and elite good governance.

Flash paint over the insignia and send an air armada in. At least run the 40 mile convoy.

We don't get much from Russia either but ours is close to 2 loonies a litre { $5.79 US gal. } ..... The situation has raised the price of crude outside of the percentage of oil Russia produces ..... I guess it's the " war effect " ...... But I still don't get why Oregon is so high .... Ours has lots of taxes in the price at the pump, theirs doesn't have nearly as much ......

There's a LOT of entanglement with Russia that's now squeezing a lot of rich and powerful people, and they don't like it much.

If memory serves me, Russia accounts for about 8% of the world oil supply.

                    Additionally,

This represents three percent of US crude oil imports and one percent of the total crude oil processed by US refineries. By contrast, the US imported 61 percent of its crude oil from Canada, 10 percent from Mexico, and six percent from Saudi Arabia in the same year.

Gas prices shouldn't double from $3 to $6 gal.

One thing to keep in mind about Oregon, last time I was out there you where not allowed to pump your own gas. That requires some sort of training and certification to make sure fumes don't escape during dispensing, it's BS but it creates JOBS! And you know well that there's a hierarchy of hen-peckers to feed on top of that.

Hearing talk that this is the beginning of WW3, Some say the beginning was some time back?

If Russia can just go in and take over who's says they stop at Ukraine?
China, if they do the same and no one to stop them?

Soon enough it's gonna be Russia, china vs the U.S

Reminds me of road construction. One guy using a shovel and 15 supervisors watching.

At this point it's best to just let it run it's course. Allegiances are dropping like flies around Putin so for the time being there's THAT to cling to.

I doubt the 43 million in the Ukraine massacre would agree with your answer.
