I too thought, great, what good will sanctions do? He kills his brother and gets his allowance taken away? What good is that?
Sanctionqs are certainly more than an inconvenience now.
Just filled the gas tank and prices are up and going higher. $3.47 at Costco, near $4.00 elsewhere.
I just filled wife's car with 4 gallons...just topping it up! $3.79/Gallon in Delaware.

Middle Asia, China, Russia, the west, the E U and U S: A look at who benefits the most, least, and gets burned in the process. I found this very interesting.

The beginning of the end of an energy superpower. Economics at work. Not a half bad read.

We definitely do not want to do anything he can use to help rally his countrymen around him. That means we must keep on board with us the other countries of the world participating in those sanctions.
In other words, it's complicated if you want to do it right.

Petrol here has just hit $8.31 gal US and going to go higher.
On the plus side it takes a lot less time to put thirty quid in.
Heading on into town later today for a pro Ukraine rally.
It's not much but it's something.
I'm somewhat gratified to hear the Russian ambassador to Dublin say that Ireland is at the forefront of anti Russian activities in Europe and that we are very aggressive. He is referring to this priest taking violence in European cities to a new and unprecedented level.

Throwing red paint on metal gates? Hardly qualifies as violence. Vandalism, peaceful protest. I remember when PETA activists were throwing red paint on people (who were wearing fur). That's violence.
As much as I despise that union busting B movie actor who was elected POTUS 52 years ago, we all knew it was just a clear statement of fact when he called Russia an "evil empire."
That's probably redundant. Can anyone think of an empire that wasn't evil?1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

Couple of cool things yesterday.
Driving towards DC on I-66, once I got inside the beltway almost every overpass had the US flag and the Ukrainian flag draped on them side by side.
And at a concert last night, the orchestra played both the American and Ukrainian anthems.
Hopefully little indications of broad and deep support.'20 Ducati Multistrada 1260S, '93 Ducati 750SS, '01 SV650S, '07 DL650, '01 DR-Z400S, '80 GS1000S, '85 RZ350
