    Bomb Cyclone

When I used to live in Western New York between Buffalo and Rochester, we just called them 'blizzards.' And in between blizzards, a normal, quiet night was, "4-6 inches expected, with another 4-6 in lake-effect areas."

But apparently those two low systems have collided, and it looks like Boston will be among the places, along with Eastern Long Island, that will get the worst of it, 2-3 feet of snow. Of course, this isn't the quiet, beautiful, big-flake snow of a Hallmark card. The wind is only blowing at a 'moderate' 24 mph, but there's something about the structure or placement of my building that makes the wind whistle, even in the hallways. In any case, even though all night I could see only a fraction of an inch accumulated on the bushes, it did occur to me that, even though I couldn't hear it, the wind might be blowing it away.

Well I can sure hear it now, and visibility is very low. In the last hour, temp and windchill have each dropped 1 (16f, -2), with one more expected in the next hour. I was planning a 5 or 6 mile walk to and from the drugstore, but I've decided I can wait another 55 hours till they'll deliver. I know I could still do it, but I've got nothing to prove.

What's it like in your neck of the woods?

Update: 15 and -3 now. I love how happy and jacked the weathermen are.

Mid 50's this weekend with 60's on Monday, the fact that weekend days have tended to be warm during the NFL playoffs really sets up conflicts about being inside!

I am 30 miles south of Boston, getting pounded! I would say a foot since 7 am, expecting 2 feet +.

We have had no significant snowfall this week.
              Temperature early this morning -23C/-9F
              Sunny most of the day.
Will warm up a few degrees in the sun, but be back to -18C/0F when I head outside to BBQ chicken for tonight's dinner.

Middle of next week we are expecting to see temperatures rise to at or above freezing.

We had quite a bit of snowfall overnight. Current temp: 21F feels like 5F.

I shoveled my driveway & walkway to the front door and put down some rock salt. Some businesses were closed due to driving restrictions but Lowe's, Aldi's and Walmart were open...3 places I had to go to. Lots of bare shelves in Walmart.

It's going to be cold through the night but snow is expected to melt and temps going back up by Tuesday. Waiting for two Championships tomorrow.

I heard -30 up in Canada where the truckers convoy is going on. Not sure if -30f or -30c but pretty dang cold either way.

It’s 8° and sunny at the moment. We got a bunch of snow yesterday. I haven’t measured or listened to the news, but a foot at least.

                      It's 14F (-18F) and feels like 7F (-25) here in Dover, DE.

It's going to be sunny the rest of the day but temps will only rise to 27F and stay below 30F for the HIGH thru Thursday. Come Friday, looks like more snow.

We have a New sliding door that needs to be installed as part of our New Kitchen Remodel but with these temps, I think we'll wait a little bit.

                        Advisory, alert, warning, watch

Advisory, alert, warning, watch. I've already put them in alphabetical order, can you put them in order of severity?

I love how jacked up the tv weather people are as we await a 'bomb' cyclone. Which, BTW, has nothing to do with a bomb.

The forecast here was 3-4 inches which freaked out the locals, especially after close to a week of 70 degree temps. There's a just-past-her-prime little hottie downstairs looking to land a gig in the local entertainment industry who freaked out to the point of leaving town at 9pm last night because "I can't handle this weather!" We ended up with maybe an inch of snow, she just pulled back in about an hour ago, I'm going to see if I can comfort her a bit later...
