    Does your 11E rear skid?

I have pursued this question before: why does my 11E rear hop instead of skid?My CB350, my Z1 and my Sportster all skidded the rear wheel with complete control. My '82 11E bucs and throws me off. Why?

'North Americans' with multiple 11Es in the garage, I'm counting on you for answers.

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

Rarely used the rear that hard, but when I did never noticed what you're say'in with any of the 11E's nor other bikes I've had. Sounds exciting though.

Well, I was talking about stopping, not starting. And on the street.

I recognize the 11E engine, but is that you? If so, kudos!

But mine has the stock swing arm, shocks and brakes (w/SS braided lines).

I think the rear brake on my 1150 is still on its original pads . I'll jab the rear brake on occasion to see if it still works. It does, but doesn't do much. No hopping though.

But does it lock up the rear wheel?

                    Possibilities

Swingarm is damaged/bent or Bushings are worn and uneven

                    Real wheel misaligned

                    Tire out of round

Too much forward weight shift due to weak front shocks/springs

                    Rotor warped

Only if the road is wet.

The wheel is hopping because there's flexibility enough in the rear suspension to allow energy build up and release. Slack in one word.
Worthless shocks, worn swing arm bushings, cracked frame, loose or missing bolts.
External cause would be waves in the pavement. You see it in old asphalt in the braking zone before a traffic light. Trucks and buses do it to the pavement

Thank you. I'm sure it's time to replace 40-year-old shocks.
