That seller is always at top dollar. Nice muffler though.

I've got that Supertrapp bookmarked already Dale. Only reason I haven't bought it is because it's expensive and would have to be modded.

OK that was you, wasn't sure.I'd LOVE to find a nice OEM for the GPz to but it would be expensive to buy and ship. From experience on my 85 750 I know how nice they are, also how lucky it was to have a full system. The SS Supertrapps are rare,I'm not sure about chrome ones. For me the best option at the moment seems to be a Delkevic.

Yes, saw those. In fact I started a thread here about them a while back. It's good to have options.

My first choice would be a nice clean set of stock KZ750E pipes. Second option would be a nice Supertrapp system - chrome, or better yet stainless steel, although I'm not even sure they made one. The ZX-7 system interests me because it's stainless and OEM Kawasaki quality. I may even try to graft the muffler onto the Supertrapp. Not sure yet.

Been on an exhaust system buying spree. First I bought a NOS Supertrapp header. Haven't found an appropriate muffler yet though. While searching I came across this stock ZR-7 stainless steel exhaust. Got a killer deal so couldn't pass it up. This one is close to a straight bolt on, but knowing how things go I'm expecting some sort of hiccup.

Not a whole lot of progress to report. Need to get off my butt and get the valves over to the machinest with the centerless grinder so the head can be reassembled.

Sold the cylinder head off the spare engine. Some kid on KZrider.com was in need so I cut him a good deal. Guy gets the head and low and behold, two of the valve seats have chunks missing. Bummer. I've never seen such carnage on a GS. Needless to say I refunded him. Out shipping $ too. Learned a lesson; don't sell used engine parts without checking them out first.

I am curious. How much have you spent on this bike including purchase price? 3,000? And I am also curious why you did all this with a kawasaki. Is it because it is something different? You are an excellent builder. The bike will be perfect when you are done.

Not much to report other than decided to stay with the stock bore size. Sold the big bore kit for a good price. Bit the bullet and bought new OEM rings from Z1. Their price was cheaper than others I could find, but not cheap overall - $50/hole just for rings. Going to have the valves touched up then the head can go back together.

Yes you did! The 45 is fine, but the lower cut, down in the port, is not even around the seat. The 75 didn't even touch the seat all the way around. Basically, it just trued up the lower cut.

I'm thinking that Kawasaki doesn't touch this lower cut and the shape is defined prior to installing the seat into the head. I suspect they install the seat into the head and touch up the 45 and the top cut only.

    Okay, some progress to report.

I've been stuck mentally with the head because the intake valve seat width was just not right. Service manual calls for 1.0mm max width, but one side of the intake valves were at 1.5mm and the other 1.0. Kawasaki apparently was really sloppy with their machine work. Was trying to figure out what Neeway cutters to order when I decided to see that a 75* Suzuki cutter would do. Low and behold, it was the perfect size to narrow down the seat width. Learned that the valve seat angles for this head are not consistent because the 75* cutter only contacted the seat on the area as needed. Call it a gift from God on Christmas day. Happy now!

75 and 15 are Suzuki's angles. I have cutters for those. Kawasaki uses 30 and 60, which I don't have. I'm contemplating purchasing these sizes but because of how the seat sits down in the head I'm not sure I can get in there with Neway's. Need to do some more study.
