'82 650 Seca - Getting ready to sell

    That's an excellent deal on a Seca650. You hardly ever see any . . . I guess because the Maxim's (L's) outsold them 5 to1. Parts must be a real issue especially on the 900 model.

      I've only bought new a right hand switch pod, plus steering and wheel bearings. Idid put together a NOS 8"headlight, plus one and a half others, and a petcock. Like the GS, you can keep it looking good, but its difficult to find cosmetic pieces.

      The headlight pieces were high priced.

      The headlight is so heavy and complex compared toa Suzuki one. Its steel, it mounts more rigidly and has adjuster screws like a car. I don't see an advantage to that, but clearly it cost a lot more to make. It has a little lever that props the seat up. You have to hold the lever to put the seat doen, so it takes two hands. Slightly annoying. It has two latches to raise the seat. One is keyed, and one is not. Ahain, slightly annoying when you are used to usingone hand to do it and holding something in the other.

        82 Seca

        That is the exact same bike I got T-boned on at 50mph back in 1985. Same color, EVERYTHING! Gave me chills to see it! Woman ran a red light on a rainy night. so I had my full face on. I only remember seeing the right headlights and chrome bumper at about 2 feet below my throttle before I went flying! And of course, my Tibia sticking out of my leg in the Ambulance.

        And you're right, that headlight was HUGE! Costs over $100. in 85 to replace! I DID take the bike on a 1000 mile trip........ Drag bars, bad idea for the neck, and every bug, rock, etc with no fairing at all! But definitely a fast bike!

        Still riding after 7 surgeries!

          Well, Brent flew in on a red eye, took the light rail and shuttle to Tillamook, walked to the house, packed it and rode it to Astoria. He's on his way to Anchorage. I wasn't around to help him out any. I did give him lots of gear and soft luggage to borrow. He has been licensed for less that 2 weeks. He is a commercial pilot, a flight instructor, and an aerobatics instructor. He has some kind of aeronautics degree too. He works for us is a safety specialist to pay off his student debt. He flies single engine commercial turbo props to remote Alaskan Villages. He is the kind of guy you can trust with a key to your house and garage.
