So I got new jets for the carbs found some bowl screws had the threads stripped out and someone attempted a repair . It ran good but leaked fuel so off to eBay searching for another set. Found some he had to bid all the way up to $122 but we got them today. Good news all the treads are excellent. Bad news you can see how bad the inside were. A before and after pic. Now once I get them back together can't finish them till new bowl orings show up.sigpic1982 gs750e 1186 oil cooled engine USD front mono shock rear

Oh that is a messy carb. Haven't seen one that bad for awhile. Now the stripped out carb threads is a common Honda issue I am finding and I'm experiencing it myself on two carbs. I am contemplating trying Alumiweld to fill the holes then retap them but I don't know if it will bond with the casting metal. Worth a try I guess.
I have been trying to resource a new rack of carbs for a few weeks now but no luck so far. And being basically "frugal" I could pay $122 for a rack but not for one carb.
This has held me up and I'm stalled until I can get this sorted.
Looks like you are almost done and it looks really good. The owner must be really happy and eager to get blasting around.
Can't wait to see her all done and buttoned up.
Cheers.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

The Honda is finally gone home. After being basically done in June carb issues, gearing all wrong, mirror change , schedule clashing have delayed him taking it home but today it happened. And he brought me one of his other bikes for some maintenance, its a GS so I'll start a GS project thread with a picturesigpic1982 gs750e 1186 oil cooled engine USD front mono shock rear
