I replied to your email before seeing your pics here with the clear, Chuck. Looks much better then what I thought with the pre-clear pics you sent me. Garth..the idea was to get the body work painted while it is still warm enough to get it done before winter temps set in. Looks real good Chuck, at least on the computer. I would like to see it in person, not to critique it just to see how good it really looks. It has metal flake in it right? Real good job, you should be proud of yourself after the setbacks you had and frustrations.Larry

Looks good Chuck, I know that spraying candies and 3 stage paints are a pain even for experianced "gunmen" and you made it look decent. I have an easy 35 years behind a spray gun and I still try to find a 2 stage that will mimick the candy finish. You can sand your clear, 1000, 1500, 2000 and forget it for a while, buff later while you work on other projects, buffing will be easy once its cured out.

Got the engine in the frame this afternoon, swing arm on, drive shaft and pumpkin bolted up also. Got the broke engine mount welded up and shot some paint over the spot. Gotta source the carb fuel tube orings, the orings that go on the end of the mixture screws, and new bowl gasket orings.

I'd pull those carbs out of the dip as soon as you can. I soaked my Kawasaki Keihin's and the sauce ate off all the zinc plating. I was shocked, and not in a good way mind you.Ed

Its getting there. Heres what left to do::
Bleed brakes and the clutch.
Install fuel sending unit in tank
Order the orings and bowl gaskets for carbs
Put rear turn signals on
Check to be sure all the gauges are plugged into the right slots in fuse box
Put tank, seat, and side covers on
Mount horns
Mount headlight

Just ordered the carb rebuild kit ( does all 4 carbs ) and a complete intake kit which includes 4 boots, orings, and new clamps. Total including shipping is $92.00MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Down to putting rear signals on, verifying the gauge plugs are in the right spot in fuse box and verify everything working right, mount horn ( cant do that till the fuse box is fully mounted), put on the new intakes and carbs when kits arrive, put in headlight, order the tank and side cover emblems, and get a new battery.
Heres some pics of where its at currently....LOVE the way the paint came out in spite of all my worst efforts!!!!
