Tore down and cleaned / rebuilt all the brake systems. Had to replace the rear caliper pistons as they were well pitted.
I made adapters to remount the stock muffler. The PO had cut the bells that go over the header pipes off and welded on Harley Sportster mufflers. I went to Orielleys and got some fittings and welded them to the headers so the stock muffler could be made usefull again. I will post pics of that later.
Fork seals and dust boots done..new fork oil added.
Started to get the blue paint off the valve covers, horn, overspary all over the frame..just the whole bike needed the blue paint taken off. God aweful mess all the way around.
So the last few days, I have switched gear to start what we have dubbed "OPERATION BEAUTIFICATION". This involves finishing the overspray removal from the frame and stripping the blue sparkler paint off the body work. ( picture a navy blue Smurf stripper covered in heavy glitter )...now you have a visual of how ugly this bike was. Sorry I didnt take pics. maybe Matt has some he can add.
So it took better part of two days stripping the body work and sanding the filler down on some of the fiberglass parts..side covers and side shelters had some dings that needed addressed. So here are the parts as I have them sanded and primered right now. Second picture is the color the bike will end up as.....STAHLGRAU 333. Its a BMW color that Matts loves..hence his screen name here.
Havent sanded the body work down yet for the paint. And PROPS go out to Larry ( Nvr2old ) for his PM tutorial and a former member here thats also a painter Aaron. AKA Revelations.
