Thats not the bike i got..its a picture from Google so I could post one up. I tore it down today and didnt take any "before " pics. Mines the same color though. My paint guy came and picked up the tank so he can color match it for me. He will drop off the paint and clear later this week.

11,736 miles on the clock. The last registration I could find in the pile of papers that came with it says last registration was 1983..that I know of.

If you get enough Hondas from a model year you can reshoot one of the glossy brochures.
My friend had one bad valve in his. He replaced it and found the factory had overtourqued a bolt in the head and stripped it.
He still has the darned bike under a tarp outside and will not sell it to me nor will he fix it up. Pipes and everything were in surprisingly good shape just a couple of years ago.

It needs to be from under tarps..un less they can breath. Tarps trap ground moisture and it condensates on everything under it. Bad idea for the long haul.

its high off the ground and its a canvas tarp. Its very well preserved but would require a methodical teardown and rebuild. He was going to sell it to me years ago for 250 and I could not take advantage of him knowing its got such a solid following. It was then he changed his mine on selling and decided to store it in an awful limbo until he dies an his kids sell it to a sawzall fanatic.

They seem to get a decent coin if they are clean and in good shape. I got some work to do but I will have it looking real nice someday. Buddy of mine relaces rims so I will be hitting him up at some point.

I took my road test on that same bike in the early 90s. It was a friend's bike, all stock save for a period correct 4 1nto 1 exhaust, Kerker, I think.

OK....So i made a deal on another one today. 1982 850G. I did the carbs and rebuilt the brake calipers and pistons on the guys bike last year and then he bought a 06 Triumph and let the GS set and now it wont start. Probably a quick redip in the Berrymans and she will fire off again. $200.00 with title and keys. He is gonna transfer the title into his name finally and soon as he has it back in his name hes gonna call me. So in about a month that one will be here. Think its time to start selling something!!!!

Years ago I had a CB550F as my first bike. Drove that thing from NY to Florida and then kept it another couple years till I bought my first new bike. A 1978 GS1000L. Still miss that bike.

1982 GS850GLZ (Daily rider when the weather is crap)

Darn, with so many daily riders it's hard to decide which one to jump on next.

My first four cylinder bike was a green '75. Bought it in '76 from a guy who hurt his back and couldn't ride anymore. Had a chrome Kerker on it.

The '76 550F that I have is the jewel of my collection. Even more so then the 1000S. Sadly, it has been stashed for almost 4 years now. I did my best to get it ready for long-term storage, but I know how hard it is on a bike to sit that long. It still looks great but I'll probably have to go through the brakes and fuel system..argh. Love that little cafe' bike, though..
