Chuck, the bike is looking great. A fresh set of badges, while pricey, is the icing on the cake, that really finishes off a nice job.

75 bucks each!!! But i spent a month trying to find some on Ebay and as many other places and these guys had them so I pulled the trigger. Good heavy metal construction exactly like the original that was on the bike. Really pleased with how the set it off.

Yes I agree Larry. Its never gonna be new except the day it rolls off the line but I do the best I can to recondition them so they look pretty nice. And these are cast metal badges and not the OEM plastic type so they should be much more durable s far as the mounting pins breaking goes.

              Tonights tasks....

              New chain installed and adjusted.
New push and pull throttle cables installed.
New clutch lever installed and cable adjusted.

Gotta run to the local bone yard tomorrow and see if I can find a right side switch with the same starter button as this one. Need the switch assembly to scavenge a starter button and spring from Then then carbs can go on and oil in engine. Then we will be close to see if I can burn some dinosaur juice.

                      I agree.
For so many people cosmetics are the first priority but from your previous restos we know the mechanics will be sorted completely.

I sort the mechanics first. First off is getting it fired up..if the engines junk then that makes its demise easy to determine at that point. Good sounding engine then shes a candidate for resto. Yeah it gets the usual valve stem seals, cylinders honed and new rings etc etc as a given. That way you arent yanking the engine later. Then its cosmetics. It can be ugly a while longer...LOL

I know of a guy that doesn't do any engine work, just cosmetics. That's fine and dandy, just don't sale the motorcycle advertising 100% restoration.
Nice looking motorcycle Chuck,(for a Honda) excellent workmanship👍

Well seems there is 11+ volts to the coils and doing the primary and secondary tests it seems the coils are junk. I have some old CB coils in storage I will get tomorrow and see if I can get anything happening. In any case, it is what it is for now. No OHMs from lead to lead or by leaving one lead in the primary side and probing any of the plug wires either. I assume both coils are toast as far as i can tell.

well, your bike looks so well, it's motivating, that's for sure.

I wonder if you can't just apply 12V from a test battery to a doubtful coil and see if it sparks on a quick disconnect... Needs a shared ground just like a welder does and maybe some kind of ballast resistor on the primary for some coils so they don't burn up (not sure if Hondas do..usually a couple of ohms does it for safety -maybe a headlamp? )
