    This rarely happens for me.

20170726_214128.jpg A friend of mine texted me today and said there's a red three wheeler for sale beside his mom and dad's. So after work I drove over to look thinking it'll be gone by the time I get off work.
When I got there it was an '84 Honda 200cc Big Red and an '85 Honda Aero 50 scooter. Before I dismounted my bike the owner was coming down the drive. He said here's a couple of barn finds as he had just drug them out of his barn the day before. He then immediately said 100 bucks for both.
I gave him 25 to hold them and went home to get my truck and trailer.
He told me they both ran two years ago. I got them home and just to see if they at least turned over, low and behold they wanted to fire up. Freshened the gas and they both did start.
They need cleaned up and gone over plus batteries but we rode them around the neighborhood for a few hours.
I love those Big Red's. Still can't believe it.

Cool toys and easy flips if you so choose, especially the three wheeler. There are making a come back. I saw a listing for a racing series for three wheel ATV. They were looking for people with Tacate, 250R and 200X the more sport minded ones.

250r has somewhat of a cult following - rightfully so.
Alan, nice job and good timing. That scooter could be fun.

I was going to flip the scooter but my wife and daughter commandeered it immediately.
It has a title and all lights and signals work and can be licensed for the road. I may end up fixing it up for my daughter.
The Big Red is a candidate for a clean and decent restoration.

Nice deal! Those Aero's are kind of fun actually, never road a three wheeler.

I see a pit bike in the Aero's future.

WOW Nice find, I just fixed up a 1984 Big Red 200 for a friend, those things are faster than expected and a bit scary at first.

The ignitor coil in the Stator failed and it had no spark, apparently common problem.

DRATV.com (Beatrice Cycles) carries some parts for the ATV if you need anything.

                          Cheers.

Excellent, thank you. I treated it as if I were reading Posplayr's postings and the stator is putting out 25v at idle and 87v at wot (no tach) which I'm calling good. The battery is toast. I can only get it to charge to 8.5v with a charger and the machine is only charging at 6.4v.
Next step is to get a good charged battery and retest the regulator. Going to possibly need one.
I'll certainly check out DRATV.com, three wheeler parts are getting expensive.
I've had them since '87 and like Rick said they're coming back into fashion for certain.

Here's the stator, has a smaller ignitor coil, the black round thingy at the top of the picture and the other 3 coils provide power for the lighting circuits etc.

I found a PDF manual online and got the specs for testing resistance on the CDI, Reg/Rec stators etc.

If you need a link, let me know and I'll see if I can find it again.
