    80 CB650C carbs for Rkroby

    These rank in the top 3 or 4 as far as gummed up goes that I have had to tackle. Bowls had about 1/8 inch hard fuel that the flat tip had trouble scraping off...so out comes the torch to "preclean" them before i sand blast them clean. I had to heat the slide towers to remove the slides from the shellac seizing them in. I had to heat the needle jets to remove the main jets also. Spent right at 3 hrs just to get them apart and the bodies in the Berrymans dip.

    Its all good though..they are OK to rebuild.

    Can we see all those parts before reassembly, I know what you'll have them looking like, but I'd just like to compare the difference.

      For sure. The soot from breaking the parts loose will be scrubbed off with some steel wool and carb spray before entering the dip. As for the bowls, they are gonna be in the sand blaster in the morning with walnut shell media. I will take shots of the float chamber area of the bodies as well for comparison.

        Aye carumba, Chuck.
        Those carbs are nasty!
        Although after the GS1000 tank resto i am a little disappointed in the size of the flames.

          HA HA..yeah its one of those things!! Darn gas stuff was like thick brown hard plastic. I wouldnt even want to venture a guess on how long soaking them would take. Fire can be a very advantageous tool if used with caution and some "control" as it where. The torch basically just melted the stuff till it reached a flash over point and burst into flame. Youll notice I am holding the torch back a good way.

            Some before and after pics. Bodies are still in the dip. Probably gonna go an extra 12 hrs till tomorrow morning seeing how bad off things were.





            I shot part of this bowl just to show the difference and the thickness of the sediment......
