Thanks, guys. The BMW is home with it's owner, Tobin. He was pleased. The Moto Guzzi cut and buff is all that's left, and that should wrap up this 3-month session.1979 GS1000S,

I've enjoyed your company, Pete. Thanks for the kind words. Simon was here at 9:00 this morning..2 1/2 hour drive for he and his wife, Karen. Lovely couple. We hung out visiting for several hours before they left with the parts. He was happy with the results. Both Simon and Tobin promise finish pics. Simon said the Guzzi will be back together by this afternoon. Can't wait to see them. Out of all the bikes I've done, I've only seen a couple of them all done and assembled. Simon sent me a few pics of his V7 Sport all back together again. I like the license surround on the last one as kind of an homage to where he found the bike leaning against outside for so many years. Cool bike, man. Check out that front brake.

Try and buy the best products available. A bit more expensive in the short term, but way cheaper in the long run. I always try and discourage people from using "Bondo" brand filler, specifically. It's cheap and easy to find but a terrible product compared to what's available. Go to an auto body paint store and get the good stuff. Ask the people there lots of questions. Tell them exactly what you're doing and what advice they recommend. That's what they do. You can buy a good filler in small amounts that come in a squeeze tube including the hardener for a very reasonable price. More then enough to do one bike. Same with your cleaners, reducers, primers, base coats, clear...even your sandpapers and tapes. Get quality materials. It's all available in a "system" that guarantees all the products will play nicely together...saving you tearing your hair out with mis-matched materials that can ruin everything in a heartbeat.Last edited by nvr2old; 07-20-2018, 12:50 PM.1979 GS1000S,

What can anyone say but Larry is a master craftsman who sets the standard when comes to motorcycle and automotive painting. I hope the owners loving take care of their respective paint jobs because they are indeed fortunate to have had Larry bestow his magic on their bikes.
Although no painter, I would agree with the Master. Get the best material, filler, paint etc.Steve
