    Larry, I posted in TIPS AND TRICKS asking for suggestions on a hard core paint remover. Whatever they used on this lump laughs at Home Depot paint stripper.

      It's getting harder and harder to find the nuclear paint stripper of days gone by. I seem to remember this being what I used.

        My brother had carbs off of an H1 on his '69 Trident. He never got it quite right, but it was pretty quick for its time.

          Spent hours this weekend so Im at 31 hours so far. Reassembly has been very fruitful.

                  I had a ‘79. Handled squirrelly, but had nice torque. 2nd year did go out, but after I gave it to friend with 82K miles.

                    Went to the scrap yard Saturday and picked up a headlight assembly, front signals, and a rack of carbs off a 78 model. Got the carbs rebuilt and the rest of the front end installed. Took pics but now it seems the USB cord for the camera to hook to the laptop has gone bad. I will update with pics sometime this week. Got very near 40 hours into it now.

                      Well the rack of carbs from the scrap yard needed new pilot jets but we did fire the engine up Sunday afternoon for the first time in around 21 years or so. Fiddled a bit with the mixture screws and got it close except the richness at idle. Got new stock pilots today and they seem to have remedied the situation.

                      So it was on to hooking up the signals from the scrap yard and function checking everything. Had to tear down the left hand switch and resolder the wires to the switch and got that all sorted. Next its time to clean the right hand switches and get to Best Buy and get that USB cord for my camera so I can post pics and videos.

                        These are pics taken about two weeks ago. I finally got a new cable so I could download pics again. Since these were taken, I have fired he bike up, checked timing and the points, and got all the signals hooked up and sorted all the electrical out. Everything works exactly as it should. I have 2 new signal lenses to install in my tool box too.

                              So even though the bikes been a runner for a few weeks now, I just today took time to do a video. Still gotta set the airbox on the carbs and finds some master cylinders and get brakes on it. The last sticker on the plates was from 1999 so i quess she has sat dormant for nearly 19 years till I got it. Heres a link to my Youtube video.

                              1977 Yamaha XS750 triple. Last registered tag was in 1999. So I can assume this is its first start up after I did a frame off reconditioning of the bike.

                                Any time something is fired up after being dormant for "ni on" 2 decades, that's just awesome !!! I guess just what we expected. Congrats
