I just like giving Chuck a hard time, simple as that, and the rest of you guys can fukk off. Pick your sides, but just know that there are MANY professional bike builders that understand my opinion and agree with it wholeheartedly. Shoot, we just had a good laugh about it on one of the Facebook GS pages a few days ago, some guys don't want to speak up and rile Chucks feathers on this site, but I really don't give a rat's ars. Ban me? ROTFLMAO! Yea, you do that. I see the crap that goes on in the Whoretex, the little feud Chuck and I have going on is peanuts compared to the manure pile in there. The fact is, he picks the absolute worst bikes to restore and goes on and on about them, and most people with ANY knowledge of vintage bikes wouldn't touch the $hit he dabbles in. Maybe you guys just feel sorry for him and like to make him think he is actually doing something worthwhile? I suggest you quit enabling him, for his own good. Doing bike "restos" and being happy about it is one thing, but to get on an internet forum and BRAG about losing money in the process is a complete joke. I'm trying to help Chuck out with some infinite wisdom, and it goes in one ear and out the other! Yes, I am independently wealthy but that is from working my a$$ off for 35 years in the I/T field and making money on EVERY SINGLE BIKE I HAVE EVER "restored". Close to a hundred bikes in the last 20 years last I counted. Why? Because I don't buy useless throwaway UJM's and sink WAY too much money into them. I buy bikes KNOWING what they are worth, and what I will be able to sell them for when they are complete. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, but Chuck thinks he can. The real problem is that the GOOD, "collectible" project bikes that are out there are generally out of Chuck's price range, but sometimes, you gotta spend 5K on a bike to sell it for 10K and make a few grand. Buying one for $500 or less, putting $1500 into it and selling it for $2000 or LESS is just retarded, and that's not even counting labor. You'll lose money every time! Maybe we need to put together a list of bikes that people actually DO want and maybe we could help Chuck find one in his price range? You guys that tell him to "keep on keeping on" are really doing him a disservice. Think about it, what I'm saying is 100% TRUTH. Pick better bikes to restore, make some money on them, invest that money into getting more bikes. Heck, use it to pay your bills if it will help, but there's no hobby in the world I would enjoy if I were losing money doing it. I basically built a dozen bike collection doing this exact same thing over and over, I guess that kind of common sense is way over some of your guys heads. Make perfect sense to me.

Who really gives a sh1t if somebody crapped in his corn flakes? I finally actually pity someone for their outlook on life. Can't have a hobby unless there is a dollar attached to it. ....sad.

"Turdnado" sums it up perfectly. Why is joker isn't banned here is a complete mystery. It's one thing to be narcissistic and only able to view the world from one perspective, but being abusive to others with a different point of view just outs oneself as a douche.

Johns entire post was about what Johns all about..MONEY. Nothing else...other than hes an IT genius which the pay affords him great latitude in what he does. Him and his followers on whatever groups he is on can laugh all they want and I dont give a damn.

Ive said it 1000 times that i like the oddball bikes and it HAS NEVER..OR WILL EVER BE about flipping and money making!! Im a biker that enjoys working on bikes..plain and simple. I dont fix up one for resale, profit, as a redneck retirement plan, or for any other reason other than I enjoy doing it. So who gives two F@^cks if I sell it for "less than" i got into it with parts and labor!! I sure as heck dont!! I look at whatever i get as just money to tinker with another one.

Good on you John if what you do is your thing..its not mine. All these people are saying is that you should show some RESPECT if you want to RECIEVE respect. Do your thing, I will do mine and so will everyone else. Do I think you need banned?? Nope. But I do think you need to find out what humbleness is and learn to shut the F78ck up.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Nah. He'll then just wimp and whine to his followers about what a turd the GSR is.

My mom knit a sweater for her grandson. She's a dumb$hit because she could have purchased one from china for less than she paid for the yarn.

It'd vary according to where you are. I shake my head in amazement sometimes at what is rare and desirable in the US. Often it was common outside...
But I'd like to see that list too.

I've become known here for building race bikes around oddball engines. For customers I should add. It's occupational therapy as health issues have stopped me earning a fulltime wage for some years now. I've rebuilt engines and the occasional complete bike for collectors and dealers like Tornado - but I much prefer to see my work ridden, not tucked away to appreciate in value. Bikes are for riding and Chuck seems to appreciate this.
