Looking For Cafe Conversation Question CM400T

So it looks like a neighbour (Cnd spelling) is gifting me a CM400T 1981 that is dead in the shed. It will turn over but that's about all I know. I am up for a challenge and maybe a custom cafe if all goes well. The pile of bike bones doesn't come with a tank. My question is what's a good website to get specific info from knowledge types on what works, what fits, what is recommended etc. specifically I am after a tank and seat that will fit without reconstructing the entire frame.

I would think only Hawk parts are going to fit.

Have a look at HondaTwins. https://www.hondatwins.net/
A very active site mainly for the early twins but it does have a section for the CM line.

Yep hondatwins.net has a couple guys very dedicated to the CM line of bikes. My first bike was a CM400E and I really liked it. Pretty smooth running twins

'71 CB350 was my first. Darn near perfection in a smaller size bike.
1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

I used to road race 400-450 Hawks when they were new back in the early 80's We FLOGGED those poor bikes..and they never..ever..broke. They were tough. Top speed, 98 mph consistently. Smooth, good handling, and attractive, too.

I bought a demo model 1982 Honda CB450T off the showroom floor in 1983 with about 700 miles on it, and within 3 years had put 20K on it. Rode it down to Florida and back one summer and it NEVER failed me, not a single breakdown the entire time I had it. Quick little bikes and a blast to ride! I still have my Honda owners card from that bike in my wallet, never could get rid of it!
