I have owned three Tridents. I think that is all the money for that example. They are fast enough for the street. That one should have a 5 speed, and they were good for mid to high 12's in their day. In other words, you would have need a KZ900 or H2 to run with it in the day. A CB750 wasn't in the running at all. They were fun, and pretty reliable.
My Three:
As to my contention that they were quick and fast in their day 1972 tested against the H2 and GT750, CB750, Chuck Hahn's TX750, and Sportster. You might note that the Trident is much closer to the H2 in speed than the CB was to the Trident and Norton:
To be fair, the Hurricane was really a BSA badged as a Triumph. Tridents are a relative bargain in the classic market. I place them with Nortons as the only usable classic British bikes. '73 is a great year for one.Last edited by 850 Combat; 05-13-2013, 02:48 PM.sigpic Too old, too many bikes, too many cars, too many things

my '73 5spd Trident was my all time favorite bike. Other than the footpegs turning into tuning forks at speed, it was a wonderful bike. Wish I
still had it.
