Pretty cobbled together. The owner bought "bling" insted of REAL mods. The pods are WRONG. Still has the 40 yr old brake lines. Silly little cam end covers, goofy chain guard, etc. I think it is overpriced.

CBX's are fun. They have lots of personality. GS1000 is a way better bike. GS1100E blows it away.
Those chunks of aluminum plate all over look like crap, and interrupt the nice lines the bikes have. Just an opinion. I've had two '79 CBXsLast edited by 850 Combat; 08-19-2013, 11:31 AM.sigpic Too old, too many bikes, too many cars, too many things

As for the sport kits, $750/00+/-; kerker 6 into 1 is avail brand new for 600.00. Winning Performance pipes are $$$, Schule(I want one) upwards of $2500.00 depending on options
A CBX at full song is absolute heaven. I LOVE mine.

The sound of it going from 60 to 90 in third was great. My first one had a Russ Collins pipe that sounded good. The next one had a Supertrap that was super loud when I got it, with no discs, and seemed to restrict power when I got the noise down to a manageable level. I Toured all over Alaska on the first one. It wasn't as comfy as the '81 GS850G I had at the same time for my brother to ride, but it was comfortable. The black '79 I got later seemed to have a hard seat, and it had some really stiff shocks on it too.Last edited by 850 Combat; 09-11-2013, 04:22 PM.sigpic Too old, too many bikes, too many cars, too many things

What's up with these guys?
I can not figure out why these craigslist posters seem to add the lines,
"No Scammers", "No Low ballers" etc.
Do they really think that by stating that in the ad, a scammer is going to go "damn I can't try to scam him because he's already on to me".
Maybe it would encourage the scammer to give it a go, just because.
It's a lot more effective to state what you want rather than what you don't want, you get more of what you focus on, so there you go.Last edited by Kiwi Canuck; 09-11-2013, 07:41 PM.2018 Honda Africa Twin AS

The CBX is a difficult bike to price. For a while the prices were climbing strongly. Then the bike seemed to fall out of favor. Several of our customers had CBX's and Z1's in their collection - and they sold the CBX's as they hated working on the bike and even riding it.
That bike is nice looking - $6500 would be absolute top dollar for it, but it's not unreasonable - the seller would benefit from disclosing the other parts that come with it. There's a big different in an alternate set of pipes versus some spare spark plugs...

Over priced for what it is, as has been said, they were not great bikes, their value lies in their collectability, but then it needs to be stock and in good shape.

I always liked the lines of the later ones with the 'sport touring' fairings and bags - they looked right.

Although the 6 cyl 4v motor(taken from GP tech in the 60s by Honda) was an industry leading 103 HP. Its a bitch to work on.
