1974 Yamaha RD350 $2500 CO
Here's a nice RD350 with 16K on the West slope of Colorado. Looks like a nice survivor with good paint & chrome not mine. I was thinking about looking at it then my plans changed with the arrival of the GPZ550. Wonder which is the better back road pocket rocket

Nice looking RD. Well worth the price if the mechanicals are okay. Good investment too, IMO. Both bikes would be a blast on the back roads. Tough choice. Good luck.Common sense has become so uncommon that I consider it a super power.

I had one just like that. I put Factory Pipe Products chambers, pods, rearsets on it, and cut the seat down for my wife. She didn't like the unintended power wheelies. I have photos of it somewhere, but not on Photobucket, apparently.sigpic Too old, too many bikes, too many cars, too many things

1/4 mile times have little to do with it.
Find some 1/8 mile times. Find some twisty road times. Find some wheelie per minute numbers.
And for a few hundred bucks and a few hours with a dremel and a welder you can double the horsepower on the 350.

Gpz550 is a really nice bike. It will smoke that 350. You will have to goodly mod the 350 to stay with a stock 550. A modded 550 will say goodbye. 550 handles great too.Ed

My first RD 350. I sold it to buy my 78 GS 750, which was nice but I hated the (lack of) throttle response. Sold the GS and bought my second RD 350, a 73. Didn't like the flashy paint job, but the traffic light response was just as awesome. Still miss those little pocket rockets.
