    full flood CL70

The bike is a 1970 Honda CL70. Carb has been cleaned and float needle replaced with seat. Bike starts up pretty good and idles fine and will even rev up for about 4 or 5 seconds then floods out. Valves have been set and it has 120 lbs. compression.

I don't really have any information on setting the float, it is a downdraft carb.

    Any ideas?

Doesn't that one have a clip arrangement on the float that allows the needle to be removed? Is it locking properly? and is the needle seated in the seat properly? That's area where the problem is.

Don't say can't, as anything is possible with time and effort, but, if you don't have time things get tougher and require more effort.

I've owned a couple of these that the kids used to ride, and the carbs are really touchy.

Soak it good when you clean it, and make sure the float move like it should.

Will soak it again, new float needle and seat and seems to be operating correctly but who knows, can't see it in operation. Would be nice to know what the float drop should be.

Well I think that I have the problem narrowed down to a bad float.
