I find working on my motorcycle mildly therapeutic when I'm not cursing.

The chaps I understand though no gloves? Anyways, glad you weren't tore up any worse then you were. Hitting a deer is some serious stuff (should see the size of our mule deer out here and not to mention the elk, real big ouch to hit one of them). Yer probably finding new bruises as you read this, I know I was when I had my first accident. Heal up quick okay. How badly was the bike damaged? Just FYI, I just bought a pair of those Duluth firehose pants, the duroflex ones I believe. Gonna see how they are for riding pants. I don't really care for my chaps. Read an article some tour riding guru wrote, when it came to riding gear he was totally against using chaps period. He said in the article "chaps belong on cowboys not on bike riders, get yourself a decent pair of riding pants etc etc". I figured if you don't have anything else but chaps, it would be better then just plain ole jeans.sigpicMrBill Been a GSR member on and off since April 2002

I saw an interesting reversal today. 3 bikes riding, a Harley and 2 sportbikes, with the sportbikes riding 2 up. The pirate had full gear and a full face helmet, while the sportbike guys had t shirts and their female passengers donned tank tops....sigpic
When consulting the magic 8 ball for advice, one must first ask it "will your answers be accurate?"

As I was sliding down the blacktop Friday afternoon having just cut a deer in half, My 1st thought was how glad I was to have my helmet on, as I could feel it slap the road with every single roll of my body. My second thought was I had worn my leather jacket. During the aftermath, taking inventory, I wished I'd had my son's leather chaps, and gloves would have helped. I can only shudder at the thought of this if I had been doing the T-shirt thing. I am really beat up, but in one piece, and I'm an old man.

A coworker always rode with a full face helmet back when he had a sportbike. Now that he has a cruiser he wears a half helmet and told me I had to make the switch too since I have a cruiser. I laughed at him and told him I don't give a $hit if people think I look cool or not, I like my face and plan on keeping it for a long time. I laughed later on when we did a short 90MPH burst and his half helmet was acting like a parachute and trying to pull his head off. I had no troubles from my full face...
