How revolting.....yuck. if this was to be a real for sale machine, I wonder this.....how does one see very well? It seems that the seat is so low,
And the handlebars / "dashboard" are so high that it must limit a riders vision.

Yes, it's real. Saw one in the Honda tent at MotoGP. Striking, but hideous to me.
Then again, video game and anime fans might like it. I dunno.

I always thought it would be cool to have a bike where you are real close to the ground.
A real lay down type of bike.
The pegs, seat and the bars are not placed to what I would want in such a bike.
Betcha with a hacksaw and some time it would make a great cafe.
Back to the drawing board!

It's Honda's hybred scooter of sorts, ugly as hell and not sure what market they are targeting with it. Probably end up as a mistake as their last automatic transmission bike was a couple years ago. They couldn't give those things away. Matter of fact the dealer here still has the only one they got and it's 3 years old already!sigpicMrBill Been a GSR member on and off since April 2002

Stuff I've done to my bike:dancing: 1100E front end with new Sonic springs, 1100E swing arm conversion with new Progressive shocks installed, 530 sprockets/chain conversion, new SS brake lines, new brake pads. New SS fasteners through out. Rebuilt carbs, new EBC clutch springs and horn installed. New paint. Motor runs strong.

I can't remember the exact model name of the machine you're talking about, but I remember it. Its main failing was the completely ridiculous price -- it was something like $17K. Yes, it was a very "different" machine, but it had its strong points. However, very few people saw the point in spending money that could buy two conventional bikes on one oddball.
On the flip side, I believe the NC700 is selling quite well in the US, with a base price under $8,000. And their CB500 and CBR250/300 models are definitely finding an audience.
There's a very strange gray area in the US rider's psyche where automatic or CVT transmissions are OK up to a certain size or style, then suddenly hated passionately on any bike you straddle.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

I've been tempted more and more by the NC700x, but it's not a CVT. It's a DCT, dual-clutch transmission. The DCT version is the only way to get ABS; the manual trans version has non-ABS brakes. Ecch.
The word, generally, is that the DCT is pretty respectable for smaller displacements.
In Europe, they now have a NC750x in DCT, so it's almost certain that's what this black thing is. It's the European (and maybe elsewhere) version with some gee-whiz bodywork. You'd think that if you were putting together this ultra-sinister machine with the stealth angles and Batman attitude, you'd build it around something with more than 2 cylinders and 29 horsepower.
I've seen an abnormal number of NC700x's for sale with less than 3,000 miles on them, leading me to believe that people have purchased them brand new, gotten tired of them, and are now willing to take their lumps just to get rid of them. On the other hand, you'll see tons of owners on Facebook showing off their versions that they've had for two years and counting. It seems they do have a solid following when they land with the right owners.
It's really tempting; my strategy now is to return to single-bike ownership. We'll see how prices deflate after the season ends. The motorcycling equivalent of the Honda Civic is how people are referring to the NC700x; well, I do in fact own a Honda Civic...and God said, "Let there be air compressors!"
