New BMW "entry" level bike coming soon...

Looks pretty cool...will likely do ok in Canada and for sure the UK and Australia for the entry market with license restrictions. Certainly a bike I would consider for my son when he turns 16.

BMW officially announces the G310, a single-cylinder entry-level machine due here in early 2016 to take up the battle with KTM’s Duke 390 and RC390.

To absolutely no one’s surprise, BMW officially announced the G310, a single-cylinder entry-level machine due here in early 2016 to take up the battle with KTM’s Duke 390 and RC390, as well as the small-scale roadsters from Japan. As part of BMW’s plans for global domination, the G310 shores up the brand’s low-cost segment, currently bedrocked by the G650 thumpers. What’s more, it’s expected to be part of a line of bikes on this platform, likely to include a supersport-styled RR variant and an off-roady GS iteration.

I think Suzuki has been making something like that... Oh yeah The B-king Larave GW250's

I think Beamers look nicer though... $4999 is that USD or CSD?

Does it have a BMW inflated entry level price?

I would hope so. I want to keep the re-sale value up in mine.

I've owned 3 older BMWs and never lost my $ when selling, but I bought when I saw a deal and had fun with them while i owned them. Somewhere along the line though somebody lost $ on those bikes.

Cool bike, but I was comparing specs of the KTM 390 to my SV650. Same seat height, about 45lbs heavier dry weight, almost twice the horsepower, 2 second better 1/4 mile times, twice the capacity gas tank and at about the same mpg goes twice as far, both 6 speeds, about 1/2" less ground clearance....I would speculate that they both will be on a par for handling on the streets and same fun/ease factor for novice or expert, and finally my bike for under $2k compared to $5k, sooooo I'll choose my SV650 for the same amount of fun and the v-twin smoothness, and sell it for what I paid for it. I doubt you'll have similar resale value in either of the BMW or KTM fun bikes.
