VM 28s fit on a 82 GPZ1100??
Guy local to me has an 82 GPZ1100 with title and keys but no carbs with it. I have the set of KZ1000 VM28s I bought from Jeff Saunders some time ago and was wondering if they will fit up to this GPZ1100. I can get the bike for 600 but I havent yet laid eyes on it. Any input on the carbs and if the 600 sounds like good deal would be great.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I adapted a set of VM22s from a KZ650 to work on my GS550.
The 650 plate was the wrong spacing for the GS so I mounted the carbs to the GS plate to make the spacing correct.
Then I used the 550 jets and linkage.
It's a solution if your carbs are the same model as you need but the head spacing is different.
There might be minor differences like vacuum ports and spring anchors but they would most likely be not too difficult to get around.Suzuki GS550; Kawasaki H-1E, GPz900; Honda MT250, CB400F, CB550, GL500, CBR929.

You can make a new spacing plate from angle aluminum easy. When I was taking my set apart for cleaning I considered that just to lose a few ounces, but on a street 1100G? nothing gained.1982 GS1100G- road bike

Not sure, but I think the intake boots with the 28's will be different. I put a set of CV 34's, from an "82" GS 1100, on a "81" GPZ 1100 with little trouble at all. I think the boots from the fuel injection bodies worked fine. A set of CV 36's from a GS 1150 should work just as well with a little more umph.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. Carb spacing is most likely the same between the KZ1000 and GPz1100. Question is whether the older carb boots will bolt up to the headEd

Any input on the bike itself??? Performance, engine issues, anything to be wary of????MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Pretty fast bike, lowish eleven second 1/4, 135 or so top speed. If it has the bikini fairing, pretty good looking, too. I think the only real weak point was the fuel injection."Thought he, it is a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."

Our local Kawasaki dealer replaced I know 2, & I think I remember 3 twisted crankshafts on these engines. One was on a KZ 1000 J (same engine as GPZ 1100, but with smaller pistons ), & I know 1 & think I remember there were 2 on the GPZ 1100's, & all were done while under warranty. While they had the engine apart, on the 1000 J, they also bored the cylinders & installed GPZ 1100 pistons. When they got this now KZ 1100 J back together, with the orig CV 34 carbs, it was faster than any of the local fuel injected GPZ 1100's. The GPZ 1100 that I put the 34's on, was appx 100 mi. from here. I drove up there, rode the GPZ with the fuel injection, removed the fuel injection & installed the CV 34's, that had been jetted for an "82" GS 1100 E, then rode it again. It felt stronger with the carbs, I can't be sure it was faster cause I didn't know anyone around there to test it against, but it felt stronger with the carbs.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw.
