Honda VFR tank sealing question.
Ive never done a sealer on one but a buddy asked if I could do his tank. Told him I would look into it. I know there is a tube ( nipple) sticking out the bottom..is that the refueling overflow from up at the cap??? Anything inside that swirling the sealer around could plug up ( other than the sending unit which will of course come out)???
I assume its just like any other tank....derust, dry, and swish the sealer around as usual. Yes??MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

If you de-rust it correctly, you won't need to put a tank sealer in there. Are you just looking for a reason to pull the carbs off later when a chunk of that crap breaks off and gets stuck in the carbs somewhere? Fishing for some future business? LOL!!!!!Current stable:

Nope..guy asked me and that all. Its not that bad now but im pretty sure he isnt gonna keep it full if I just derusted it and told him he didnt need the liner ( which would be my approach ). But he insists he wants it lined so...............MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

How about those sellers who list tank liner as though it were a positive thing justifying a premium price?!?
"New battery, tank liner and oil change!"1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red
2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

Problem is that rust takes the galvanization off the metal. Once that compromised its a spot for rerusting and spreading even after derusting....and you can bet you azzzes the guy isnt gonna keep the tank topped off if its gonna set a while to prevent con densation space. NOR is he likely to have access to 100% pure non ethanol so you have th problem of the fact ethanol ATTRATS moisture which is gonna settle out after time and jusr rot it all over again.
Its a no win a lot of times. But a quality liner DONE RIGHT and all directions FOLLOWED TO A TEE isnt anything bad or shameful.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
