MT-01: Who has ridden one? Review? How do I get a bike in from Canada?

I know the specs but I have been seriously looking at going through the hoops to get a MT-01 State side so I can have it as my weekend hooligan.

Has anyone on here ridden one?

If so, what is your review on the ride?

How do I get a bike in from Canada?

    Bike Porn:

Similar to what mine would look like when done (stock color though)

OMG I want one so bad... I wished the VTX engine I had in my VTX1800 was in a frame like this...
    MT-01: A 1700cc V-Twin Super cruiser motor in a standard upright frame...
The MT line is the FZ line here in the states, if it made it state side it would be called the FZ-01.
I think I need to change my pants.
    HAHA

Let me know if you have any answers!
    Thanks

    Time Frame? Next year.

Damn it, why did you have to post that. Now I want one. I thought it might have been a Bolt engine trying to copy the H-D XR12. It would be an every day rider for me. I'vegot to imagine that the right leg will be cooked with out wrapping the pipes. I know the V-Rod puts out way too much heat and that looks to be in a similar position.

Justin, you do realize that it weighs 550 pounds and has the range of an old VMax, right? It's a lot more like the Moto Guzzi Centauro in its actual utility than, say, a Buell. I love them, but they don't do anything incredibly well-other than look and sound monstrous.

          Justin,

The exhaust needs to have the EPA approval stamped on it.
Trying to bring one in would get it seized at the border and impounded
Which means no money and no bike

Interesting I've heard a few folks sneak in the GSX1400's in so I figured it was hard to do but doable. I heard someone bringing in a MT-10 from Canada because after exchange it was cheaper then buying state side.

Thanks for the heads up. Perhaps I should just save up for that XSR900 in stead... Land first though :/

Cons -Not fast ( all over at 120mph), weird centrifugal feelings from those huge pistons when dragging your knee on the floor, heavy "mans bike"

Pros - Fast enough for 99% of all daily lunacy, ability to drag knee on the floor, heavy mans bike, sounds like the apocalypse in progress with hugely expensive akropovic cans as part of stage 2 kit

Overall one of the most visceral, unusual and memorable bikes Ive ever ridden ...... I'd 199% buy another

A friend of mine who specializes in big Yam Twin tuning/modding just had some used parts delivered to my house via ebay from california - so some MT01's made it here I guess

Man... It looks like it's going to be a total PITA... Makes since why the MT-10 could make it over for it's made here in the states already.

                      I'll keep digging.

Don't know anything about them, but it looks like a Harley engine squeezed into an FZ1 body, with an air cleaner grafted onto the side of the tank. Interesting concept....the exhaust disappears down low and reappears like it's coming out of your butt. Wait a few days Justin, then take another look at it and it may alter the urge to own one.

It is a niche bike for sure. The Warrior motor is pretty great (and humongous), and it has decent bits; that said, I can't imagine how it would be more enjoyable (or comfortable) than the B-King, which would yank its headlight out and thrash it to pieces on a backroad.

If it is 25+ years old there is no problem importing it. If not, it needs to have US DOT and EPA stickers on it or a letter of compliance from the manufacturer, or you could pay someone to certify and import it. https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/det...g-a-motorcycle If it was not a US model, chances of compliance are minimal. Edit: THere used to be a 1 time lifetime exemption aimed at servicemen returning, that loophole was plugged in the '90s. Bill Gates tried to import a Porsche 959 back in the day, the richest man in the world had to wait 13 years and certify it would never be driven to get it in

Despite the neck snapping power the B-king was a pretty bad MC for my devices. I would like it as a weekend runner (which is why the MT-01 my sights) but my Concours is way better daily bike. With the ZX-14 bits and re flash, I know it could out run the B-king in the top speeds, full fairings FTW.

*sigh* Looks like a loosing battle here.

A V-max is also in my sights, I want to hear something other then an I-4 on the weekends.

The MT-01 is one sweet machine but for the time and price, I think I'm better served getting a FZ-09/XSR900, Vmax or something else ridiculous like a used Super Duke ... Or first gen Diavel (NO NOT THE X-DIAVEL)
