OK, I can play here, too.

It has been gone for a long time now, but this was the first GS in our stable, an '81 450T.
#1 son got it for the princely sum of $50. Had it for about a year, sold it for $500 and bought a 650L with the money.

True enough. Just ask Simon (Keuther) about his.

I think he bought the bike, got airline tickets for two, enjoyed three weeks or so riding it around parts of the USA
and flew home for less than he could have bought the same bike in Oz.

Bonus time: he still has the bike (stored here) and will be coming back to ride it some more.

Yep that's about right too. Prices here are a little insane in comparison.

There's an 85 GS1100GK for sale here with $42K kms on the clock that's been triked and they want $18500 for it.

There're two GS850G's for sale too, one $2800, one $2900.

No $150 bargains around here I'm afraid, usually not even a basket case!

I sure like those 8valve 400s that you guys got to the north. Yours looks like its in nice shape. I like the wheels as well.

How's the hardtail? What psi are you running in the rear?

harder in the summer, softer in the winter. about 5-15psi below stock specs. I ride it mostly in the winter to keep my other bikes away from harsh weather. the hardtail is good, very easy to corner and take off, 10 times better than stock since its much lower and stiffer. If I did the hardtail again, I would go 1-2" shorter with the same drop just to shorten the wheelbase. as it is its 4" over stock.

Well here's a little update on mine. Finished the hoop to close off the end of the frame and added crossmember to replace the one cut off the top. Need to do the battery tray and splash pan to protect the tail from debris. Anyway here are a couple pics for now.

At the shop to bend the hoop for the frame. That's the owner's toy in the background.

Mocking up seat height and rear set height. Picking up some aluminum plate to make mounts for them.

Hopefully I'll have more updates over the next couple weeks. Really want to get the frame in paint before it gets cold in the garage.

Quick question: What's with the bump in the middle of that cafe seat?

It's originally for a CB and it's my understanding it is to clear the stock fender. Or so I have heard, could be wrong.

Looks painful, I bet the hard tail guys would love it.
